5. Our client’s challenge
In order to negotiate a volatile economic market,
our client, a global oil company, sought information
and advice on global staffing activity in the oil and
gas market, including any subsequent trends that
had resulted from new discoveries and projects
such as changing global pay rates.
The company needed a partner with experience
of employing and paying contractors on various
projects around the world.
Our solution
Collating information from our database of over
400,000 professionals and our network of more
than 500 consultants globally, we analyzed
contractor work activity, career history, pay,
nationalities and project locations.
We conducted comprehensive salary reviews
to gather benchmark data, which allowed us
to produce detailed and accurate rate bandings
by sector and discipline. We matched these rate
cards to the various activities and projects that
were happening across the Americas, Europe,
Asia, Australia, Russia and the Middle East.
In addition to comprehensive pay rate data, our
report also outlined the costs of mobilizing and
supporting personnel across the selected global
locations. It also contained an overview of our live
data, allowing our client to accurately forecast the
availability, pay and associated cost of mobilizing
and maintaining the workforce required to execute
their future planned project activity.
The outcome
The information provided allowed the management
team to make some of their key operational
decisions, including the formation of project teams
in several new locations. We have since been
asked by the client to produce the same document
for them every six months, ensuring they have
access to the latest trends and salary information
and can keep a close eye on their contractor pay
rates.

Managing Legislation and
7. Our client’s challenge
On 1st October 2011 the Agency Worker Regulations
(AWR) came into effect in the UK. This was a set of
regulations ensuring that temporary workers
received equal treatment and were subject to the
same working and employment conditions as
permanent employees.
This posed a significant challenge to our clients
that engaged agency workers in the UK as they
had to adhere to a new set of legislative rules.
Firstly they needed to fully understand the
legislation and then seek advice as to what
preparations were necessary to manage the
required changes to their HR and procurement
processes.
Our solution
At the time the AWR regulations came into effect,
our Commercial and Legal Director was also the
Chairman of the Association of Professional
Staffing Companies (APSCo). Our enthusiasm
to develop knowledge of legislation impacting
the recruitment profession meant that we were
able to work with APSCo to provide vital assistance
and guidance to both client and recruitment
companies.
The outcome
Armed with an in-depth knowledge and experience
of staffing legislation, we conducted several free
breakfast seminars for our clients. Such was the
need for advice that these seminars were attended
by many client HR and procurement hiring
representatives.
All attendees were positive about the seminar
and many have since sought advice from the
NES Global Talent’s Commercial and Legal team
on other staffing legislative issues.
How we support you
If tasked with your legislative and contractual risk management, we’ll:
• Protect your company. By assisting you in understanding legislation, we help your operations keep fully compliant

improve your business’ brand by ensuring all
candidates have an excellent experience.
9. Our client’s challenge
Our client, an international oil and gas exploration
and production company, were relatively new to the
market with only a small HR department supporting
the projects side of the business. They had
ambitious growth plans with multiple projects
coming online at the same time, all requiring a
productive talent acquisition strategy.
Our solution
We developed an end-to-end resourcing scope
for our client, advising on specific sourcing and
retention strategies, assessments, interviewing,
offering a job, onboarding and mobilization.
The strategy focused on improving the attraction,
retention and tenure of staff through a robust and
tailored assessment and selection process.
We also developed a strategy for enhancing their
employer brand in the local communities where
operations were to be sited, enhancing their
candidate attraction capabilities.
The outcome
We put together a new recruitment process and
helped our client to implement it within 12 weeks.
This generated over 2,000 applications in the first
two weeks and attracted 6,000 applications in total.
Some 200 candidates were screened, 100 taken to
interview and 40 reached offer stage in under three
months.
This was achieved with a 97% non-agency success
rate and a 98% local hire rate, keeping costs to an
absolute minimum. This non-reliance on external
agencies saved our client around AU$800,000
against the predicted amount of fees based on
salaries.
How we support you
If tasked with providing you consultancy services, we’ll:
