2. • 1. Photoshop – We used Photoshop to create our newspaper prop because it had the best software
to create a professional looking newspaper that would work well in our opening sequence. A
weakness of photoshop would be that it’s complicated to work with especially if you don’t have any
experience using the program.
• 2. Soundtrack – We used soundtrack to create our backing track for our opening sequence. Their
are a few limitations with using the software because their aren’t a huge amount of sounds to
choose from, most of the sounds are very similar so therefore it’s hard to create something original.
The only thing we found useful with Soundtrack is that it’s very simply to use and you don’t have to
be talented in music to create a track because the sounds are already premade.
• 3. Final Cut – We used Final cut as our main editing software, it’s a good program to use because
you can create professional looking editing with a software that is easy to use and understand. The
layout of the program is clear and easy to use and all of the effects were easy to use too because
you had a window which would allow you to change things to suit to your liking. We didn’t have any
experience so it was tricky to handle at first because we were used to working with Imovie which
had less features than Final Cut.
• 4. Sound Cloud – Sound cloud was a good tool that allowed us to upload our soundtrack to our
blogs, it was easy to upload it to Sound Cloud because all you had to do is sign up and there were
not difficult features to use. There aren’t any weaknesses with this program other than the sound
quality could always be improved.
• 5. YouTube – We used YouTube to upload our Final Cut videos to a social media website, it’s
strengths were that it was compatible with Final Cut which made it a simply process to upload it
straight to YouTube. I noticed from YouTube is that it cut a bit off the end of our video so some of
our props on screen or editing was not visible because they were off the screen.
3. We divided our shots into two
separate folders which were
named ‘Bad shots’ and ‘Good
shots.’ This helped us organize our
clips so it was easier to find them
when we were editing.
We were able to create different We used the timeline to place our
layers for as many clips as we shots where we wanted them and in
wanted, we used this to create our the correct place so all the shots
split screen shot. We were also able worked together. This feature
to lock a layer to prevent us allowed us to lower the brightness
accidently moving it by mistake. and opacity on the shots that we
wanted to look darker.
4. Soundtrack was very
This was a preview of our title so we useful because we were
knew what it would look like when able to fully customize
we placed it into our title, it helped our titles to a style that
us visualize the style that we we wanted and
wanted something that would fit
into our genre
The timeline us allowed
us to set a timespan of
how long the title would
appear on screen, we
could also position to
where we felt it would
have the biggest impact
