Group Chief Accountant (reporting to Group Manager Finance and Vice President Finance) in
IFA HOTELS & RESORTS GROUP (Well-established multinational Real Estate Developer and Hospitality Group
operating in UAE, USA, UK, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritius, and South Africa consisting of over 20 subsidiaries and joint
ventures) from Jul 2013 to date
Role and responsibilities consist of:
Daily Tasks
• Review and approve journal entries;
• Review and verify purchase orders and supplier payments as per the policies and budgets before
Vice President’s and Senior Vice President’s final approval;
• Review daily bank position to devise plans for collections and making payments to suppliers;
• Supervise invoicing and the collection of receivables;
• Manage resolution of issues faced by the finance team in Ms. Dynamics AX; and
• Mentoring and leading the staff in their day to day activities.
Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Tasks
• Facilitate and ensure month end closing tasks are done timely. These include bank reconciliations,
intercompanies and joint venture accounting, suppliers and customers balance reconciliations,
fixed assets register updates, finance cost calculation and recording, booking accruals, prepaid
expenses amortization, related parties reconciliations etc;
• Ensure the allocation and charging of corporate service cost for shared services e,g, finance,
human resource, information technology, administration etc. is as per the approved management
allocation policies;
• Lead the valuation of fixed assets and investment properties from independent valuers and
incorporate resulting adjusting entries;
• Liaise with the external auditors at all stages i.e. pre-audit, audit and post-audit for agreeing audit
timelines, ensuring all the required audit information/documents and signed audit reports are
arranged as per agreed schedules on annual and quarterly basis, conducting meetings with senior
audit team at planning and finalization stages to resolve key issues identified, arranging
Engagement Letters, Key Issues Memorandums and Letters of Representations etc.;
• Manage monthly staff payroll;
• Prepare monthly management accounts as per senior management requirements with the
responsibility to ensure aberrations in numbers are identified and corrected before presentation of
accounts in front of senior management;
• Work closely with MIS team for preparing monthly MIS reports with respect to variance and ratios

• Liaise with finance teams of subsidiary companies in UAE, UK, USA, Kuwait, South Africa,
Mauritius and Lebanon for intercompanies accounting and Group Consolidation;
• 15 days before the quarter end I circulate Group Audit timelines stating the audit and financial
reporting plan to the finance teams of subsidiaries;
• At the same time I also share updated template of financial reporting pack required from the
subsidiaries;
• Review financial reporting packs received from subsidiaries and get the issues/inquiries resolved
by the relevant finance personal;
• Run consolidation process and make necessary adjustments for acquisition and disposal of
subsidiaries, intergroup transactions elimination, NCI adjustments etc.;
• Get the separate and consolidated financial statements audited;
• Facilitate auditors in ensuring financial statements include adequate disclosures required by
IFRSs; and

• Overall planning of audit, understanding clients' business processes, assessment of business and
