DANIEL KERR
Course Sections
A MBA 504 (01-END): FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING
What, if anything, did you find most valuable about this course? -
A -The instructor made every resource available to the students -Was very clear about expectations -Many Professors struggle when
it comes to answering questions and maintaining the momentum of a lesson. Professor Kerr was not one of those Professors. He
made sure to spend a fair amount of time addressing feedback and concerns in class, but knew when to ask students politely to
contact him after class.
I thought Professor Kerr provided a great deal of resources for us to use in our studying and mastery of the course. There was
everything from articles, HW modules, selected readings and online recorded lectures that allowed for effective learning and
studying at any time of day or night, which I found particularly useful.
Well structured, and helped me achieve my objective of taking this course - Understand, analyze, and interpret financial reports
The homework! It really helped me understand the material. Accounting is also valuable in life no matter what. The professor was
thorough and very good at explaining the concepts.
The interaction of the course is very good. Professor Daniel has a good sense of responsibility for students.
My general knowledge in FA was very little or none. Professor teachings certainly made me very much interested in continuing this
class. While many of the applications may not be applicable to my current functions, the general idea is very critical to know in real
life. I wish I had more time to learn this class.
The coverage of the material was extensive and informational.
I found the lectures and recordings valuable. The instructor went out of his way to educate his students.
The class time is good.
i love professor Daniel. He is good at teaching and communication. And he always answer our questions patiently.
Professor Kerr is a great instructor. He worked very hard to make himself and the course material available to the students. His
mini-lectures were very helpful and timely through out the week. However, I tended watch them all at once after they were
uploaded for the week.
No. It is good for students who are in Finance or Accounting.
accounting logic; accounting system; financial statement
The professor is very nice and effective in teaching this course. He encourages class participation and likes to get everyone to
know each other. He is easy to get in touch with outside of class and is very reasonable. He spends a lot of time recording lectures
to help us with the material and gives us very helpful reviews before each test. He gave us a take home portion for exam 3 and
that definitely helped with our grades.
What is the most effective way to contact the instructor outside of class? Select all that apply. - Other (please specify)
A (Other (please specify)): Blackboard was used and the professor always responded in a timely manner
(Other (please specify)): Before class, via email, and by telephone were all very effective means of contacting Professor Kerr.

In what ways, if any, could the course be improved? -
A There was too much focus on class participation and it created a lot of annoying people who sucked up and wouldn't stop talking.
This class would be much better as an online only asynchronous course. The live portions really were not needed. I found the
recorded lectures more useful than any of the live in person classes or "live" online classes. The professor, although very nice,
gets off topic a lot. He also goes over the tests word by word and I found that to be particularly painful. This took the whole 2.5
hours and that time could have been much better used for something else, or we could have stayed home and studied on our own.
Completing the online homework should count as a portion of our grade too, since the textbook and online access was too
expensive.
lecture more on real life case.
None.
The software could be more user friendly. Sometimes dropdown boxes, when selected, would reset the screen. This made doing
some of the exercises cumbersome. I miss pen and paper, but appreciate how the online work is structured in a way to guide you
through.
It could give grades on the homework. The explanation of the chapter could be live and the instructor could record the homework
solutions as videos. The concept could be simplified so the students who do not have a finance or accounting major could do
better. The course is suitable for someone who is familiar with the concept but for someone who is hearing about the concepts for
the first time was so difficult which reflects on the grade.
NA
I think the beginners should have bit more fundamental understating to move to next level of this course. Therefore, my request is
to have general fundamental understanding or basics of this course for people like me.
I feel like I learned so much I will be spending much of the summer relearning the material so it sinks in a little more. It is a LOT of
material.
I found that at times our in-person meetings were not as effective as they could have been. I believe this was likely due to the fact
that we reviewed 2 of our 3 tests in class, which I don't feel is necessary as each student needed additional work or help in a
different area. I feel that if someone has an issue with a test, they ought to speak to the professor in office hours or at break. I
didn't think it was necessary to go through each question on each test during class time.
Maybe skip the occasional Star Trek reference and throw in something Star Wars related. In all seriousness, I have no suggestions
regarding his method of teaching or the way the class is conducted. One thing that may be interesting is to assign a more
comprehensive group project in which each team is assigned an "ethics case," that the students have to present and the semester,
either in person or through a blackboard powerpoint upload(with sound).
