2. Mind Maps/Brainstorms
Star by using the first few slides to create mind
maps and or brainstorms for ideas related to
your project. Get as many possibilities as you
can.
Donât worry about practicality, suitability or
potential at this stage. You will assess the ideas
later.
11. Idea Evaluation
Which of your ideas do you want to develop further? Explain why you think that is
the right idea to take forward.
I have chosen this idea of my project as I feel as if within the time that I have been given to create
this product, Iâll have a good chance to create something good. I believe that my idea of showing
off some of Yorkâs smaller independent food and shopping businesses creates a good product to
advertise to my age range, whilst at the same time giving me something that isnât too challenging
to advertise. It allows me to spend more time focussing on the shots and possibly more technical
production techniques. Whereas if I decided to go for the idea that consists of creating a story,
using actors, designing costumes and potentially the usage of props, I might have ended up
having to spend too much time on them aspects and not enough time on the planning of shots,
which would just result in a bad looking product. And Iâd rather, if Iâm honest, have maybe a more
boring product that looks a lot nicer.
12. Development
âą Development should include mood boards or other visual
examples of work. It could include basic mock ups of your
vision for the project using the work of others.
âą These donât need to be the same quality as your finished
pieces but they a good indicator of where your project is
going.
âą As this is not final work, it may include work from others.
âą You could include test work or practice work here too to
further develop your skills.
19. Assessment of final ideas
After looking back at my ideas. I feel as if my first idea, the advert that follows usual advert
conformities will engage the target audience more than my second idea. I just feel as if being
completely straight with the audience and promoting the product straight away instead and
showing itâs an add straight away too might keep the target audience engaged rather than
something that maybe wouldnât be obvious that itâs an advert straight away because I believe
thereâs more of a chance of not engaging the target audience. I believe that my idea will fulfil the
brief that the client has given me. I believe this because after completing thorough research on the
target audience, I was ready to create the idea for a product that I feel as if will interest eighteen to
twenty-four year old's. Itâll be fast paced and full of information which will help keep my target
audience interested. The main reason as to why I have chosen the idea that uses usual advert styles
over the idea that appears more like a short film at first is because I feel as if trying to create a short
film in the time that I have to create my product will not result in the best product that I could
make. Whereas I feel creating the more simple idea of juts a generic advert may give more time to
focus on what Iâm making and create more visually pleasing advert because I wonât have to focus
on anything like actors, scripts, costumes and so on.
20. Production Schedule:
You should prepare a production schedule that will allow you to manage your time over
the 4 weeks of production. This should include:
âą Deadlines: Interim deadlines help you keep on track, final deadlines are final.
âą Availability: The availability of the client and any other people you may need to help
you with your project. You will need to contact them. You might to do visit. You may
need to liaise with models, or photographers.
âą Feedback: This is a working brief with a real client. You will need to get feedback on
your work and also allow yourself time to make appropriate changes. Plan appropriate
time in to you schedule so that you can do this.
âą Resources: You should include a list of resources that you will need to complete your
project. Remember that this all needs to be your own work
21. Week Tasks
Week 1 After collecting hopefully almost all my
footage the weekend before, Iâll start the
product by creating the drawn maps for
each waypoint. I might even create a short
animation for the drawings.
Week 2 Week 2, I will hopefully have finished my
drawn maps and can start creating my
advert. Iâll start by getting all my desired
clips into Premiere Pro and assembling the
video in the right sequence. Iâll then spend
time finding a song that I will want to use for
my advert and start cutting the clips where I
need them until itâs properly all together.
Week 3 With week 3 commencing Iâll use my
selected music and see if I can cut any clips
to the beat of the song and then begin to
recolour my clips
Week 4 Week four will be used to look back on my
product, make sure I like it and make any
changes that are needed and maybe even
look for peer feedback.
