Very Nice Photo – capitalize “The” ?
For KELLY—insert here photos from your collection of UM OIP events, etc (from Joe—Nice selection—can we airbrush the leftmost? The lighting makes him look “sweaty”)
Kintja—Saul asked that you edit the pdf map title to read “The University of Maryland in the World” (keep same typeface and format)
From the Colleges perspective it is important to understand the UM Strategic Plan and how AGNR responds to it. Even though I do not identify how we are adopting and adhering to the strategic plan it is a part of all we are doing. Also please realize that in 2005 when the UM had its last major budget reduction the college had a committee to make recommendations as to deal with the reductions and yet become more efficient. If you were to go back and review that committees recommendations you would see that many if not most of their suggestions have been implemented.

Because of the federal and state legislation AGNR has offices in all 22 MD counties plus Baltimore City. Each of these offices has tenure track college faculty located in them and these faculty members are full members of the UM faculty including being members of the faculty senate. In addition the College has 4 research and education centers in strategic locations around the state were we have both research and educational facilities and capabilities and faculty.
Since much of agriculture production is climate, soils and geography specific and the State of Maryland has three very different geographical zones; the coastal plains, the piedmont and the mountains, it is necessary to have research sites located strategically in the various areas of the state. As a result we have research facilities and land at 8 off campus location. Plant agriculture is particularly sensitive to variations I location and as a result varieties, pest control, agronomic practices etc. have to be evaluated and adapted for different conditions.
The faculty are tenure track only, the figures do not include contractual employees, The faculty numbers are Full Time Equivalents not the number of people who may have teaching, research or extension partial appointments. This does not indicate the number of split appointments there are in AGNR.
