QUANTIFIERS
UNIT 5: “SHOP SMART”

 Quantifiers used to indicate the amount or quantity
referred to by a noun.
 There are different from numbers so they are an
approximate amount rather than an exact amount.
 Some of these are,
 How much (Cuánto) (With uncountable nouns)
 How many (Cuánto) (With countable nouns)
 Too (Demasiado)
 All (Todo)
 Enough (Suficiente)
 None (Nada)
Much / Many
 We use Much with uncountable nouns (things you can’t count
like sand, perfume, feelings, sugar or bread)
 Example: How much money do you spend in a month ?
 We use Many with countable nouns (things you can count like
chairs, pens, times a week, items or coins).
 Example: How many classmates do you have?
Much / Many
 Much and Many are also use in affirmative sentences after the
words too, so, and as. (Too much and too many, both mean a lot
of something)
 Examples:
 I have too much money (I have more money than I should)
 Mia has too many shoes (She has more shoes than she needs)
 Nobody spends as much time in the bath as you. (Tanto)
 I have so many cats at home. (Tanto)
Enough
 Enough is used to express sufficient or insufficient amount of
something. We use enough before a noun, but after an adjective
or an adverb.
 Examples:
 Those shirts are not big enough. (Big is an adjective)
 That’s enough!
 I don’t have enough time for this! (Time is a noun)
All
 All is used to express a whole amount. It can be used with
countable and uncountable nouns.
 Examples:
 All men are born equal.
 All women have to be loved.
 All my feelings are important.
None
 None is used to express a negative sense in the sentence. It
can be used with short answers.
 Examples:
 None of my relatives have green eyes.
 None are really necessary.
 Sorry, there are none left at the fridge!
Fill in the statements with the correct quantifier:
much, many, too, all, none or enough.

2. Are there _________ people in that room?
No there’s _________.
3. There is _________ bread for breakfast.
4. That car is _________ expensive!
5. How _________ time do you need to finish your homework?

  • 1. QUANTIFIERS UNIT 5: “SHOP SMART” By Teacher Danitza Lazcano Flores
  • 2.  Quantifiers used to indicate the amount or quantity referred to by a noun.  There are different from numbers so they are an approximate amount rather than an exact amount.  Some of these are,  How much (Cuánto) (With uncountable nouns)  How many (Cuánto) (With countable nouns)  Too (Demasiado)  All (Todo)  Enough (Suficiente)  None (Nada)
  • 3. Much / Many  We use Much with uncountable nouns (things you can’t count like sand, perfume, feelings, sugar or bread)  Example: How much money do you spend in a month ?  We use Many with countable nouns (things you can count like chairs, pens, times a week, items or coins).  Example: How many classmates do you have?
  • 4. Much / Many  Much and Many are also use in affirmative sentences after the words too, so, and as. (Too much and too many, both mean a lot of something)  Examples:  I have too much money (I have more money than I should)  Mia has too many shoes (She has more shoes than she needs)  Nobody spends as much time in the bath as you. (Tanto)  I have so many cats at home. (Tanto)
  • 5. Enough  Enough is used to express sufficient or insufficient amount of something. We use enough before a noun, but after an adjective or an adverb.  Examples:  Those shirts are not big enough. (Big is an adjective)  That’s enough!  I don’t have enough time for this! (Time is a noun)
  • 6. All  All is used to express a whole amount. It can be used with countable and uncountable nouns.  Examples:  All men are born equal.  All women have to be loved.  All my feelings are important.
  • 7. None  None is used to express a negative sense in the sentence. It can be used with short answers.  Examples:  None of my relatives have green eyes.  None are really necessary.  Sorry, there are none left at the fridge!
