This leaflet has been produced for the Digital Futures for Teacher Education
project, part of UK Open Educational Resources Programme Phase Three. This
project seeks to create materials (OERs) for trainee teachers and to develop
guidance on digital literacy practice in teaching and learning in the school
sector. For most up-to-date information about the project, please refer to the
    DeFT project blog

Reflexive questions - teachers

The project team would like to capture our ongoing reflections on how the project is
impact on our collective and individual understanding of digital literacy and Open
Educational Resources. In order to do this, we would like to ask if you would engage in a
number of reflections on what your understandings are and how they change as the project
develops. Therefore, at various points in the project, we will ask you to send us some
reflections, based on a prompt question. You can respond either through sending written or
oral (podcast or video) reflections. You may already be keeping ongoing reflexive notes/
diaries as part of the project and you may wish to send us these - you do not need to do
this, of course, we would be happy for you to keep these private if you would prefer. Any
notes you send us may be used in reports and publications, but they will be anonymised
before being published if you would prefer that. Please note that all team members will be
taking part in this process of reflection, as we feel it will be important to trace all of our
changing understandings of digital literacy/OERs.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this process. Your
first/second/third/fourth (select as appropriate) question is below:

Question Deadline
What understandings of digital literacy 30 April 2012
underpin your work for the project? What
digital literacy skills/ knowledge and
understanding does your project aim to
develop?
How has your understanding of digital 31 May 2012
literacy developed during the project?

How has Digital Bloom influenced your 31 July 2012
understanding and practice?
What impact did the DeFT project have on 30 Sept 2012
your understanding and practice of DL/OER?

Reflexive questions for the student teachers

Information for student teachers participating in the reflective task for the

DeFT: Digital Futures in Teacher Education project.
DeFT: Digital Futures in Teacher Education project is part of a larger UK Open Educational
Resources initiative. The aim of the project is to develop online-based resources addressing
the opportunities and challenges of embedding digital literacies within teacher education,
where reflection is a key element of project methodology.

The DeFT project team would like to capture individual and collective attitudes and
approaches towards digital literacy in the context of professional practice. In order to do
this, we would like to ask for your reflections on the process of being involved with the
"Teach in Sheffield" project. The questions are listed below. You can respond to the
prompts through written or podcast/video reflections. If you do send a digital or audio
recording, we would be grateful if you could include a transcription of your words. These
reflections do not need to be more than 500 words/ 1-2 minutes recording. Any notes you
send us may be used in reports and publications, but they will be anonymised before any
future use so that you will not be identified.

We appreciate the time you give us, and value your contributions, and as recognition of this
would like to offer each member of the group a £10 Amazon voucher, this will be after you
send your completed reflections (together with transcript) at the end of the "Teach in
Sheffield" project to Nicky Watts n.watts@shu.ac.uk by 30th June.

   • Question 1 (at the beginning of the "Teach in Sheffield" project): How do you define
digital literacy in your personal and professional context?
   • Question 2 (as soon as possible after filming for "Teach in Sheffield" project): How
would you describe your attitude towards digital tools/digital technology at this
       point in the project?
   • Question 3 (after 20th June - at the end of the project) : Have your understandings of
digital literacy changed after participating in the "Teach in Sheffield" project? If so,
       how? If not, why not?

If you want to find out more about the project, please visit our blog
http://deftoer3.wordpress.com. If you have any further queries, feel free to contact Nicky
Watts n.watts@shu.ac.uk or Anna Gruszczynska a.gruszczynska@shu.ac.uk

Reflexive questions

  • 1. This leaflet has been produced for the Digital Futures for Teacher Education project, part of UK Open Educational Resources Programme Phase Three. This project seeks to create materials (OERs) for trainee teachers and to develop guidance on digital literacy practice in teaching and learning in the school sector. For most up-to-date information about the project, please refer to the DeFT project blog Reflexive questions - teachers The project team would like to capture our ongoing reflections on how the project is impact on our collective and individual understanding of digital literacy and Open Educational Resources. In order to do this, we would like to ask if you would engage in a number of reflections on what your understandings are and how they change as the project develops. Therefore, at various points in the project, we will ask you to send us some reflections, based on a prompt question. You can respond either through sending written or oral (podcast or video) reflections. You may already be keeping ongoing reflexive notes/ diaries as part of the project and you may wish to send us these - you do not need to do this, of course, we would be happy for you to keep these private if you would prefer. Any notes you send us may be used in reports and publications, but they will be anonymised before being published if you would prefer that. Please note that all team members will be taking part in this process of reflection, as we feel it will be important to trace all of our changing understandings of digital literacy/OERs. • 4. Reflexive questions for the student teachers Information for student teachers participating in the reflective task for the DeFT: Digital Futures in Teacher Education project. DeFT: Digital Futures in Teacher Education project is part of a larger UK Open Educational Resources initiative. The aim of the project is to develop online-based resources addressing the opportunities and challenges of embedding digital literacies within teacher education, where reflection is a key element of project methodology. The DeFT project team would like to capture individual and collective attitudes and approaches towards digital literacy in the context of professional practice. In order to do this, we would like to ask for your reflections on the process of being involved with the "Teach in Sheffield" project. The questions are listed below. You can respond to the prompts through written or podcast/video reflections. If you do send a digital or audio recording, we would be grateful if you could include a transcription of your words. These reflections do not need to be more than 500 words/ 1-2 minutes recording. Any notes you send us may be used in reports and publications, but they will be anonymised before any future use so that you will not be identified. We appreciate the time you give us, and value your contributions, and as recognition of this would like to offer each member of the group a £10 Amazon voucher, this will be after you send your completed reflections (together with transcript) at the end of the "Teach in Sheffield" project to Nicky Watts n.watts@shu.ac.uk by 30th June. • Question 1 (at the beginning of the "Teach in Sheffield" project): How do you define digital literacy in your personal and professional context? • Question 2 (as soon as possible after filming for "Teach in Sheffield" project): How would you describe your attitude towards digital tools/digital technology at this point in the project? • Question 3 (after 20th June - at the end of the project) : Have your understandings of digital literacy changed after participating in the "Teach in Sheffield" project? If so, how? If not, why not? If you want to find out more about the project, please visit our blog http://deftoer3.wordpress.com.
