2. INTRODUCTION TO SONG & GENRE
• The song we have chosen to make a music video out of is
Determination by Dot Rotten. This song is off of the “Interview”
mixtape by Dot Rotten which was released this year. The genre
of the song is UK Rap/Hip-Hop. The song challenges the
stereotype of the typical Rap/Hip-Hop artists that talk about
money, gun violence and women.
3. STAR IMAGE
• The image that we would like our artists to have is very inspirational,
pure and successful. He xdxxccccbe wearing all white clothing to
show his success and purity. However, throughout the video his
image will change. In the beginning of the video you will see his main
start image at the beginning but then it will change and he will be
wearing dark clothing which would be a black hoodie, black jeans
and black trainers. This image will show the audience his criminal
past and the slow change as the music video progresses to smart and
pure clothing shows his new lifestyle and how he has changed from
his dark ways in his seemingly former life.
4. TARGET AUDIENCE
• The target audience for our music video are teens aged 16-19
who live in predominantly middle class/ working class areas
who understand the struggle of trying to acquire money
through hard work despite all the hardships in their life. I feel
that these young people can relate the most to the music video
as they know the struggle of life in the bad areas of London
and the struggle it is to get out of these places and that mind-set.
5. OVERALL MEANING/CONCEPT
OF THE VIDEO
• The concept of the video is that the artist is finding himself in
life, trying to figure out who he is in life and in the end of the
video he becomes successful and finds himself and sees where
he needs to be in life. The overall meaning of the video and the
song is to stay determined no matter what happens around
you. No matter what happens, always stay focused on your
dreams and chase it until you’ve made it.
6. NARRATIVE SYNOPSIS
• The narrative of our music video will be the telling of our
artists previous life and how he sue to be in the past to his
progression in the music scene and the hardships he had to go
through to get to where he is now. As the music video goes on
we see the artist progressing through music but also
encountering some obstacles on the way where he has to stay
determined and focused if he wants to reach his goal. At the
end of the music video our artist will meet himself signalling
that he has found himself and his life's goal is complete.
7. LOCATION/SETTING AND
PROPS
• Our first location will be at the dance studio in the school and
we will make the room dark and have a spotlight on the artist
which would create the atmosphere we want. We will also shoot
the video on Cable St to film the first part of the video and then
at the end of the video we will shoot the artist walking to the
drama studio. The props we will use are money for when the
promoter slaps money out of the artists hands.
