Hinweis der Redaktion
There are a lot of writing patterns that we can use in developing compositions or texts.
N
umber 1…
However, its purpose is not to simply state the obvious but rather to illustrate subtle differences or unexpected similarities between two subjects.
As a writer, you should help the readers see how these two ideas are similar or different by showing them its advantages and disadvantages so they are able to weigh the pros and cons before they make judgment or decision.
Block Method - You may begin by saying everything you have to say about the first subject you are discussing then move on and write everything about your second subject. If you are writing a short paragraph or essay, you might be able to fit all your points about each item.
- all the information about one of the objects being compared/contrasted is given first, and all the information about the other object is listed afterwards.
This type of structure is like the block structure used for cause and effect and problem-solution essays.
For the point-by-point structure, each similarity (or difference) for one object is followed immediately by the similarity (or difference) for the other. Both types of structure have their merits. The former is easier to write, while the latter is generally clearer as it ensures that the similarities/differences are more explicit.
Point-by-point - if you would want to address one subject at a time, you may use Point-by-point comparison.
Comparison and Contrast
What is the writing pattern?
Comparing & contrasting or comparison & contrast.
to illustrate subtle differences or unexpected similarities between two subjects.
Block & point-by-point
This is related to our next writing pattern.
It can be in many forms like argument…
If you are going to use the persuasion writing pattern, your main goal is to influence, encourage or motivate the readers to do an action or to believe in your ideas.
In my opinion, this is the most powerful writing pattern because you’re not just leaving impression to the readers but you are also pushing or encouraging them to do an action.
Presents only one argument
Intends to make readers to do certain things
Builds arguments on opinion and factual statements
Present the issue and the details of the issue.
Issue -
Argument specifies what the writer stands for about the issue. Is it okay to buy an Iphone 14 pro max or not?
Arguments shall be supported with a well-researched evidences,
Logical meaning based on known statements or events or conditions; using logic reasoning
Statistical meaning of, relating to, based on, or employing the principles of statistics.
Anecdotal meaning describes something that is related to a short account of an incident from a particular perspective. Evidence in the form of stories that people talk about what has happened to them. His conclusions are not supported by data; they are based only on anecdotal evidence.

The next pattern of paragraph development focuses on how you can state details through giving reasons or results of a topic.
Reasons and results are two things that interest readers. Thus, it is important for writers like you to learn how paragraphs of this kind should be developed.
Cause and effect is a text development pattern explains ___________ something happens and states ___________results a particular event produces.
For example, a man offends his neighbor by insulting him (the cause). His neighbor becomes angry (the effect and the next cause) and he in turn tells his friends (the next effect and cause). His friends also become angry (another effect and cause) and tell their friends (another effect and cause).
The Ishikawa diagram, also referred to as a “fishbone diagram,” ….. Invented by Kaoru Ishikawa
It is also known as a fishbone diagram because of its shape.
A fishbone diagram is a visual way to look at cause and effect. It is a more structured approach than some other tools available for brainstorming the causes of a problem (e.g., the Five Whys tool). The problem or effect is displayed at the head or mouth of the fish.
because, as a result, resulted, caused, affected, since, due to, effect, and so.
For example, try thinking of the effects that mobile legends may have on grade 11 students at CNHS. How did you come up with the idea?

Complicated situation – perplexity
Distress – extreme anxiety, pain
Vexation – state of Frustration
After answering the “why” and the “what happened”, we now move on to the “how”
- How will we do things and how we can resolve issues or concerns around us? This time, you will apply the problem-solution pattern of development.
A “Child in conflict with the law” or “CICL” refers to a child who is alleged as, accused of, or adjudged as, having committed an offense under Philippine laws.
JUVENILE – relating to young people or teenagers
Waywardness - following one's own capricious, wanton, or depraved inclinations : ungovernable. a wayward child. : following no clear principle or law : unpredictable. 3. : opposite to what is desired or expected : untoward.
Steps in developing a problem-solution text
Identify what is the problem to be solved
Plan for the structure of your essay before you choose supporting evidences
Write your topic sentence.
Give supporting evidences
Provide additional information and details
Generate and explore ideas and develop these in order to come up with the best solutions
A strong conclusion restate the thesis, offers new insights, and forms a personal connection to the readers.
This is where you leave a final impression on the central or main idea.
Discussion of the problem
Extended – mas pinahaba- all the details that are anecdotal
