1. I ain't rich yet, but I'm trying
Laying back in my bed
Looking up it’s so lonely
Looking back growing up
I wish someone woulda told me
Life's a pack of cards,
So play ‘em well till your old
See, we used to dream so big
But what happened to that kid
Work hard keep your head down
That’s how she raised me
I'm trying hard to break out
Of this cage that enslaves me
With no tie and no suit so they calling me lazy
Just words and my guitar
I hope they break these bars
I ain't rich yet, but I'm trying,
I said I’m really, really trying
Just bear with me
Yeah, ‘cause I ain't giving up, giving up
When sometimes your closest expect you to fail them,
When whispers far away are wishing you well
It seems the only way to heaven seems to go through hell
And I'll wait patiently but would you wait for me?
You work hard, keep your head down
That’s how my mother raised me
I'm trying hard to break out of this cage
That enslaves my mind
With no tie and no shirt so they calling me lazy
Just words and my guitar, I hope they break these bars
I ain't rich yet, but I'm trying,
I said I’m really, really trying
Just bear with me
Yeah, ‘cause I ain't giving up, giving up
To see my name in lights ain't the only thing
I'm wishing on a star
And I'm thinking ‘bout the future,
It’s not just me it’s all of us
But all I need is your trust
And I ain't rich yet, but I'm trying,
I said I’m really, really trying
Just bear with me
Yeah, ‘cause I ain't giving up, giving up
Showing the artist
playing music as much
as he can to get better
and work at it to
become well-known and
rich. (Gave me the idea
to have him playing
while he should be
working.)
From the chorus of
not being rich yet, it
gave me the idea to
show the artist in a
manual job, that
wouldn’t pay
particularly well.
This has given me an
idea to make a
transition from
locations by tracking
into the guitar as these
lyrics are said.
This has given me the idea
for at the end, some
members of the public stop
to watch him for a while,
but they still walk away
fairly soon after stopping,
showing that people are
starting to be interested, so
he is just going to be
persistent until more and
more people become
interested.
This has given me the
idea to show his sad
emotion while
working, then looking
happy while playing
music. So he’s going
through hell (work) to
be able to get to
heaven (becoming a
rich music artist).
