CONCEPT
The concept of my music video could be perceived in many different ways, as it
will relate to many different people who are or have been in a relationship. They
will interpret it how they want to because they will remember the times they
have had with their partner. The ultimate concept behind my video is to show a
relationship, the good side of it. The video will take the audience on a journey
with the couple in the video, as they will see the happy times that they have
shared together. Along with the lyrics, which bring the meaning to the video, the
audience will see how much the male protagonist loves his girlfriend, how happy
she makes him and how she is his main focus. The purpose of my video is to
show the audience why the male feels this way about his girlfriend, and the best
way to do that is to put their relationship at the focus of the music video. It will
be portrayed as the male protagonist filming the experiences he shares with his
loved one, to give the video a real personal touch, which many videos can lack
these days.

Narrative and Performance
The narrative and performance in my video will attempt to portray the meaning
and concept of the song to the audience. The narrative in my video will not be
chronologically arranged, alternatively, the footage in the video will show many
different times the couple have spent together, and the narrative is basically
showing the happy relationship that they have together. There will be no staged
performance in the video; this is because it is uncommon for my genre (indie
pop). Also, if there was choreographed performance, it would take the focus
away from the meaning and the realness which shines through in my video
because I want the focus to be on the relationship. There will be a small amount
of performance in my video, which will be the main protagonist singing, this is to
link the video with the lyrics and gives it a personal touch as the protagonist is
singing about how much he loves his girlfriend etc. The narrative will come from
the point of view of the male protagonist, as he will be filming.

Love
In my video, I will attempt to show the theme of love. The song âTenerife Seaâ is
focused around love; the love that the male protagonist has for his girlfriend and
vice versa. The way love will be portrayed, is by giving the audience a first
person view of the relationship. It will be as though they are there with the
couple, as the music video will be footage that the pair have taken when they
have spent time together. The mise en scene in the video will show them being
very happy, smiling and laughing, to emphasise how they make each other feel.
The theme of love shines through within the lyrics, with the male singing âSo in
loveâ a number of times.
Lighting
There will be a mix of high and low key lighting in my music video. This is
because there will be no manmade lighting in the video, it will all be natural. The
reason for this is because the footage in my video is filmed in a number of
different locations, and at different times of the day, for example day and night in
Edinburgh. The natural lighting also links to the fact that I donât want the video
to look staged or directed, it is about the relationship and should reflect how the
relationship is from the point of view of the male protagonist. There will be some
low key lighting in the shots of the male protagonist singing.

Camera and Editing
I will do my absolute best in my music video to use various types of camera
shots. Close ups, medium close ups and long shots will be used, however they
may not be noticeable, as the narrative shows the male protagonist filming, and
not someone from outside the video. This will give the music video a very
different feel and atmosphere. The camera will both pan, and zoom a number of
times, some times faster than others. I will use a number of different editing
techniques to try and make my music video run as smoothly as possible,
unfortunately it will be difficult to include editing techniques with the overall
concept and way my video is constructed.
