Welcome to the presentation on “Team Building”
Team building refers to a process of developing team work.
It brings together different groups who work for a common goal.
Team building skills are essential to manage a team, whether you are in a managerial or leadership role to give an extra edge to your organization.
What do you need to build the right team in your organization?
To achieve effective team management, every organization should come up with certain team-building activities.
Team building activities should:• Develop mutual trust towards each other and towards the organization.• Formulate activities that help an employee improve communication
The team should clearly understand the intention behind such a program.
Balance individual and team accomplishments and create a positive environment.
Monitor the changes and scenarios concerning the work environment and plan activities as often as required.
Boost team spirit and coax it to give inputs or feedback about others.
Encourage open debates and discussions.
The first thing to ensure before starting team building activities is to ensure that each individual participates actively.
Take your team back to their childhood.
Give roles to each team member. Make sure that the role you assign to a team member is not one he or she is extremely comfortable with.
You can designate Friday to be Team Friday and have a different activity or theme for each week which the team needs to contribute to.
Paintball is a fun and creative activity for teams to do.
Some of the essential tools that contribute to effective team building are:
First, identify the goals that are best to achieve in a team.
It is important to develop mutual trust among team mates when a task is assigned.
Encourage the team to participate in discussions and activities to break barriers among themselves.
Always behave and show respect to your seniors and juniors.
Your communication should be individualistic since people understand in different ways.
Everyone should practice active listening when working in a team in their day-to-day activities.
Be accepting of people when you work in a large team.
Always try to give compliments to each other, even for little achievements and maintain reward programs.
Work out contentious issues among each other and make everyone in the team culturally fit.
Sometimes, it is important to exchange roles in a team to understand the difficulties they present so that the team understands everyone better.
If you are a leader, set an example to your team or if you are a member, support your leader.
Introduce games or activities where everyone feels equally challenged and bring out the team’s spirit.
According to Stephen Covey, “Interdependent people combine their own efforts with the efforts of others to achieve their greatest success.”Ultimately, it’s important to remember that our emphasis is on building a good team. The right attitude can be promoted by implementing these activities for efficient team building.
