2022 marks a very special occasion for the Arbor Day Foundation
Along with being the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day, it also the 50th anniversary of our organization.
Over the last 50 years we've grown to become the largest non-profit dedicated to tree planting

In the last 50 years, we have planted more than 500 million trees
And we’re very proud of that accomplishment
And we’re here today to connect with you.
To understand how this work might help support you as you work to reach your own goals

Speaking of 50, next I’m going to bring up our newly appointed CEO, Dan Lambe.
In his 50th year, Dan became just the third Chief Executive in our history
He’s going to talk through some of the urgency we see with our work and some additional goals that the Foundation will be pushing towards

Greeting and Introduction
Hello, I’m Dan Lambe, CEO of ADF: the world’s largest member tree-planting NFP, creating transformational change since 1972. Thanks for joining us today. 2022 marks a very special occasion for the Arbor Day Foundation. Along with being the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day, it also the 50th anniversary of our organization.

Opening Question [in appropriate venues]
Before we begin, I’m curious. By a show of hands, who here has had a tree in their life that’s deeply meaningful to them? [Call on a few people if time and setting allows.]
ADF Mission slide:

A slide with a background image that speaks to inspiring people to plant nurture and celebrate trees. Not a forest background.
Some kind of background image that speaks to the diverse ways we engage so many to be tree planters
Members, Tree City cities, ACT plantings, reforestation, etc..
Maybe even a dissolve type of creativity. This could be a slide that I use in multiple other presentations.
A Tree Can Be Brave
We understandably feel anxious or uncertain when we consider the planetary scale. Trees do what needs to be done.
They nurture life in an uncertain world.
They reshape landscapes from humble backyards to whole continents.
They save lives—
More than 850 per year in the US alone by cleaning the air and preventing acute respiratory emergencies.
Provide medicine to fight diseases
Root structures stop flooding.
I’ve seen the power of trees first-hand: bringing healing and hope to disaster-stricken communities in Easton, PA and Sierra Leone alike.
[Quick personal example of impact]
A Tree Can Be Persuasive,
inspiring change, creating impact, and inviting everyone to make a difference without hesitation or self-doubt.
A Tree Can Be A Jackhammer,
pulverizing the shackles of concrete to make way for environmental justice that promotes unity, respect, and hope in underserved communities.
Jorge – on of the founders of the Overtown Green Haven Community Garden and new Brownsville Smile Haven Community Garden. Manages and maintains the gardens and food forests.
Passionate about offering greater food security in Miami Dade Co. through planting and caring for fruit trees. All produce is given back to the community for free.
