Windows 10 is Microsoft's latest version of Windows and, as always, it's kind of a big deal.
What's new? What's improved? Is it better than Windows 8? Is it another Vista? Do you qualify for a free upgrade?
This presentation introduces you to some of the most prominent new features and explains the potential impact of Windows 10.

several months.

of updates and support.
- Currently on 53 millions devices.
6. New Start Menu
- Windows 8 Start Screen is gone.
- Windows Apps are found on the
Start Menu.
- You can access all desktop apps.
- Menu and tiles can be resized.
- Tile section can be removed.

- New default browser. (Internet
Explorer is still present.)
- No backwards compatibility.
- âReading Viewâ, which removes
ads and menus.
- Annotate and share web pages
- Quicker browsing.

yet, but they will.
23. Command Prompt Update
- No more frustration when you
press CTRL + C, X, V in CMD.
- Select text just like any other
Windows app. No more
marking text.
- Resize the window, and so
do the contents.
- Mostly a tweak for sysadmins,
that will save them time.
25. Schedule Restart Settings
- No more automatic restarts, if
you donât want them.
- No batch file required.
- You can tell Windows when you
would like your PC to restart.
- Allow Windows to suggest a
time, or pick a time.
- Leave your PC on at night.

- Like Office XP -> 2010 -> 2013,
things are better organized.
- Old Control Panel is still there
if you want to use it.
- Integrated Search makes it easy
to find the buried menu you need.
- Groupings are more intuitive.
- Simpler user interface, much like
your phone.

- Microsoft collects data about you
by default.
- Edge passes browser history to
Cortana to aid searches.
- Uses location for weather, calendar
for notifications, etc.
- Privacy settings are opt-in/opt-out
in your Microsoft account.
- Nothing gets shared if you donât
have a Microsoft account.
31. Wi-Fi Sense
- Shares your Wi-Fi passwords
With Outlook, Facebook and
Skype contacts.
- More convenient way to share
Wi-Fi passwords.
- Password is sent encrypted, so
contacts never see it.
- Activated by default but can
easily be deactivated.
- In theory, will encourage the use
of stronger passwords.

- Free upgrade for people using
Windows 7 or newer.
- Must register for the upgrade
within first year of release.
- Will have Pro and Home versions
and an upgrade from Pro to
Home.
- Regular price is $199 for Pro,
$119 for Home and $99 to

35. Should I Upgrade?
- Reviews have been very positive.
- Install in a VM and test critical
applications.
- Waiting is perfectly fine.
- Ask software vendors if they
support Windows 10.
- Hardware that can run Windows 7
efficiently should be fine with
Windows 10.
- Corporate PCs should all have
Pro installed.
