Hello, my name is Cody Gonyeau and this is my PowerPoint on current event issues in education
This article was written by Ryan Steven from the Detroit Statehouse examiner. Michigan failed to receive a grant for education
Why is this important? Our schools have been experiencing a great deal of budget cuts. Our legislature would have liked this grant to promote more job opportunities
In order to get this grant from the U.S. department of education. Our state was demanded to send in reasons why we need the money.
These are the states that were chosen for the Race to the Top Educational Grant. Notice I pin pointed out the locations of the states. Does this become an issue if mostly all of the states are on the eastern side of the country?
The grant money towards our public schools would have been very useful. A lot of our schools administrations wouldn’t experience budget cuts and job losses. This all plays in to effect on the major delegations being brought to Lansing.
The money would have impacted the school system with more technology opportunities. Students could have had access to computers or other types of technology that would have helped them learn.
Mainly a big reason that the grant could have helped us is it would have brought job security to our current teachers. Who knows it could have also opened up more jobs available to people
From now on the state must realize that grants directed towards our educational system could have been very helpful. One of the major benefits the state could have faced.
In conclusion we now may still experience some more budget cuts within the future.
These are a couple articles that I used in relation to the Race for the Top grant information.
