It takes a coordinated effort from many parts of the healthcare system to successfully save lives from cardiac arrest. This includes public access to defibrillators, transport to specialized hospitals, telephone CPR guidance, community first respondder programs, research, and tracking outcomes through a cardiac arrest registry. Measuring and benchmarking performance is important to understand what is working and how to continue improving survival rates.
