1. Self-diagnosis based on self-knowledge.
Knowing himself will allow the leader better to understand his strengths, weaknesses, and
limits. Therefore, human relations can be improved thanks to introspection. For example,
the situation highlights the fact that as my neighbourhood's leader, he is self-knowledgeable
enough to be conscient that he is close to its tolerating limits regarding the solicitation of its
community.
2. Self-diagnosis based on emotional intelligence.
In this case, emotional intelligence is relevant since it is related to the ability to positively
understand, use, and manage the leader's emotions in order to overcome challenges and
solve conflicts within the neighbourhood. As a good listener and patient individual, the
community may use those qualities too much and overwhelm the leader. Releasing this
pressure through a hobby or dialogue with the neighbours may solve the overuse of
emotional intelligence.
3. Self-diagnosis based on social intelligence.
Social intelligence is covered mainly in this situation through the interactions between the
leader and his neighbours. The leader needed to communicate his tiredness of dealing with
the complaints of everyone. As a leader, it is required to develop the solid social intelligence
to improve communications. Being empathic emphasizes this concept.
4. An action plan that has a self-development element.
To feel better as a leader in this situation, my action plan involving self-development
elements would include a better definition of my limits regarding complaints. I would also
define a schedule with my neighbours to let them know when they can contact me to report
any issue. Indeed, it might increase the personal barrier with this mission and
professionalize the role. Defining a contact channel and communicating it would allow the
leader to organize the requests and clear his mind.
5. An action plan that has a positive relationship element.
Scheduling a monthly meeting with the neighbours to discuss the current issues and the
state of improvement of the past issues would allow them to be aware that their concerns
have been heard and are currently being solved. This meeting would also be the opportunity
to discuss the issues that have been translated and highlight the leader's qualities. Including
some positivity between the leader and the neighbours may increase their relationship. It
will also show the leader that interactions with him are not only concerning negative
aspects.
