ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Involve in commissioning and pre-operation verification testing of SHERRITT’s Ambatovy Nickel/Cobalt
Project. A billion dollar Nickel and Cobalt lateritic extraction and refinery project with nameplate capacity
of 60,000 t/a.
• Participate in the successful commissioning of Coral Bay Nickel Corporation Plant 2. Successfully achieved
148% plant operation.
• Trained and experienced in Hydrometallurgical Unit Operation and Process Control
Management; Safety, Environment and Manpower Management; Periodic Maintenance and
Repair Work of Plant Equipment.
• Successfully receive the first slurry from the minesite via 220km pipeline in commissioning stage of
Ambatovy project.
• Successfully commence the acid injection in Autoclave in commissioning stage of Ambatovy project.
• Involve in the commissioning and pre-operation of London Mining’s Marampa Iron Ore Plants 1B, 1C-A
and 1C-B expansion.

Job Scope
• Responsible for the efficient and safe operation at the De-Zinc – Mixed Sulfide
(DeZn-MS), Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Final Neutralization (F-NTRL) and
Chemicals section through Distributive Control System (DCS) control,
monitoring, field equipment operation, follow-up of regular sampling and results
of the analysis for proper recording and appropriate action or necessary
adjustment to stabilize process conditions.
Tasks
• Operates the Distributed Control System to maintain normal process flow and
target optimum operation.
• Conducts DCS control Start-Up and Shutdown of Methanol Reforming Plant,
Hydrogen Sulphide Plant, and Hydrogen Sulphide Compressor.
• Monitors plant equipment such as pumps and motors, tanks, rakes, etc.
• Monitors field operation parameters such as pressure/ differential pressure,
temperature, concentration, flow, density.
• Line-up pipes for fluid flow and gas flow.
• Analyzes samples ( ORP, pH, Turbidity, Filtration Time, Density)
• Operates Pressure Filter Equipment for Mixed Sulphide product.
• Operates and checks the line-up of Polishing Filters.
• Collects Mixed Sulphide samples for laboratory analysis.
• Conducts Gastec Analysis for the concentration of Hydrogen Sulphide.

• Responsible in operating several types of process equipment from the control
room to safely and efficiently produce nickel and cobalt as well as process by-
products.
• Understand and follow procedures and policies to ensure health and safety of all
workers and environmental processes.
• Work with advanced process control equipment to monitor and control plant
processes.
• Troubleshoot complex process and equipment problems.
• Read process gauges and meters and record all relevant information on log sheets.
• Identify, rectify and report all equipment for maintenance, following established
procedures and policies.
• Monitor and control safe guards to ensure compliance.
• Safely prepare basic equipment for maintenance following established procedures
and policies.
• Actively participate in operational meetings and training sessions as required.

Responsibilities

• Controls Distributed Control System (Citec Scada) for water and slurry
commissioning as well as normal operations start up and shutdown of the units.
• Perform Control Loop Testing for the flow meters, level indicators, valve
stroking on pneumatic and solenoid valves and mechanical run in for pumps with
proper coordination with the field operators.
• Conduct testing for process interlocks, pullwire, belt drift, belt rip and emergency
stop for conveyors and other process units.
• Ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, objectives and
regulations and the commitment to achieving Zero Accident through safe
behaviors.
• Performs training as required to complete skills development with a “can do”
attitude. Mentors and trains Sierra Leoneans operators with less experience and
knowledge. Liaise with Team Leader to minimize disruption to production
targets.
• Complete allocated operational inspections of the plant in an efficient manner to
optimize productivity without jeopardizing employee safety, high standard of
workmanship or end product quality.
• Ensuring SOP’s / PTW systems are followed and that any deviation from the
details will be through consultation with the team leader/ supervisor and ensuring
any changes are recorded.
• Participates and actively contributes in an approved program of safety meetings,
toolbox safety discussions, and safety audits.
• Undertakes a schedule of safety / environmental / housekeeping inspections of
the processing plant and associated infrastructure when required, ensuring that
corrective actions on deficiencies are raised and communicated to the shift
supervisor.
