This position provided both strategic and day to day human resources supportto managers and employees.
In this role I acted as a regional consultative business partner and serves as the primary HR interface for
corporate initiatives.Iwas responsible for working closelywith the Director ofOperations to implementHuman
Resources strategies which support the business plans of their respective regions. The position reported to
the Area Director of Human Resources and had primaryHR responsibilities within myassigned region which
included 21 terminals in 7 New England states (CT,MA, ME, NH, NY, RI, VT) and Part of Canada.
Description ofEssential Job Functions:
• Leads Employee Relations investigations and resolve issues with the supportofthe Director of HR
• Provides counsel to managementrelating to disciplinaryprocesses
• Councils on performancemanagementopportunities including disciplinaryactions/suspensions/terminations
for region with location managers,Director of Operations and Director of HR • Lead and facilitate individual
and group Talent Developmentvalidation sessions
• Investigates and responds to incidents and complaints ofharassment,discrimination,etc.; resolve disputes,
recommends appropriate/remedial action(s),and responds to EEOC claims
• Consults with legal counsel as appropriate
• Partner with local leadership to assess the strategic and tactical needs ofindividual locations while providing
training to ensure compliance with all company/DOT/FMCSR regulations, policies and procedures, as well
as federal and state law
• Participates and plans training to include New Employee Orientations along with various managementand
employee training as required
• Communicates effectively with all levels of employees to build engagement
• Unemploymentadministration;to include representation ofCompanyat hearings
• Recruitment; attended job fairs, help host service center open houses and interview candidates for
managementpositions to help supportthe Talent Pipeline.
• Mentor existing managementfor the attainmentofpromotional opportunities
• Provides coaching/counseling/advising to all levels of employees including management by developing a
mutuallytrusting and respectful relationship which fosters our union free philosophyand maintains an open
door
• Champions region surveyaction plans,providing guidance to local service center management
• Assists with meetings aboutbenefits;educates employees on value of benefits
• Works closelywith the benefits departmentto resolve issues
• Conducts annual HR audits;facilitates post-audittraining as needed
• Participates or leads cross-functional projects to recommend and/or implement new approaches, policies
and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiencyof departments and services performed.
• Implements HR programs and processes to meetthe business objectives ofthe company
• Regularlyplans and schedules visits to all assigned service centers to be visible and available to all
• Supports Voices and Values Team efforts regionally, jointlycreating innovative ways to recognize employees
• Other duties related to employee relations as assigned by Area Director of HR including collaboration with
Director of Operations and Manager of Safety
• Works in conjunction with the Area Director of HR to manage conflict while defining a process orientation
and a 'best practice'strategic approach to aligning with the voice of the customer
Personnel Supervisor

Responsibilities
Fulfilling staffing needs ofthe service center (including interviewing,hiring process,PartI & II, training,etc.).
• Meets regularlywith SCM to discuss service center staffing needs
• Works with Driver Recruiter
• Recruittalent locally via driving schools,advertisements,state employmentoffice,job fairs, etc.
• Entire Part I process
• Entire Part II process
Training employees
• Includes entire Part II
• Local Employee Orientation
• Apprentice Driver Training and Mentor programs
• I.C.E. Training (Initial & Re-training)

• Monthly service center training including conference reports

Attendance management
• Daily tracking of all employee attendance events
• Update the Attendance Calendar
• Review 12-month historyat each attendance event
• Ensure the service center is properly utilizing attendance call off cards/tardy slips and FMLA Qualification
Forms
• Determine discipline (ifany) based on companyattendance policy
• Draft Discussion discipline and attach attendance calendar with occurrences marked - give to Manager to
issue to employee - follow up and file discipline
• Coordinate all Leaves of Absence
• Coordinate LightDuty program
• Create,maintain and manageinternalprocess to communicate employee absenteeism to local management
(excel spreadsheet,calendar,etc.)
• Communicate Scheduled & Unscheduled employee absenteeism to operations timely (assists operations
planning)
OSHA Forms
• Forms 300 & 300A
• Enter/update accidents/injuries/violations into Safety Operations System
• Postreport for required time period
Work Force Management(WFM)/Kronos
• Review daily to ensure employees are paid correctly/properly
• Enter all special pays (PTO, Vacation, SplitVacation etc.)
• Payroll corrections
• Check for inappropriate edits
• WFM audit
Other duties/responsibilities:
• Personnel,Safety and Payroll sections offormal audit
• Maintain flex board or unassigned board to ensure the proper protocol is followed
• Annual Job Selection Process
• Annual Vacation/PTO selection process
• Coordinate Drug Testing Program
• Maintains all Personnel files
• Coordinate Uniform Program
• Participates/facilitates communication meetings
• Review CDL/Physicals - keep updated listof renewals
• Responsible for securityand issuance ofweeklypayroll
• Coordinate Service/Safety awards - employee recognition programs
• Work with the Voices and Values Team on service center issues
• Coordinate all employee events (summer picnic,holidaydinner,employee recognition cookouts)
• Conductexit interviews (when necessary)
• Send weekly reports to Region Office (when required)
• Update companybulletin boards/legal updates
• Update safety board daily or as required
• Manage vending and food service at service center
• Annual MVR review
• Must know the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
• Coordinate new hire reviews (6wk, 10wk, Annual)
• Ability to travel to other service centers in region & Home Office
• AssistSafety Manager with state Truck Driving Championships practice & state competitions.
• Assistsupervisors or Managers working their assigned shifts
Accomplishments
I joined Con-way Freight in 1996 as a Driver Sales Representative (CDL A) truck driver. I was promoted to
Personnel Supervisor after four years. Over the next 8 years as Personnel Supervisor I improved employee
retention and grew the employee population atmy service center from 25 employees to over 130 employees.
Maintained 100% auditcompliantduring my time in the position.Traveled the region and assisted atvarious
terminals to hire well qualified long term employees,train new hires and maintain auditcompliance in Kronos,
EEOC, Workers Compensation,OSHA,DOT as required.Iwas later promoted to Human ResourceGeneralist
for the region.
Driver Sales Representative
XPO Logistics - Chicopee,MA - August 1996 to June 1999
Responsibilities
CDL A driver responsible for local pickup and delivery of customer's freight.During my time as a driver I also
ran nightline haul to Freight AssemblyCenters in the New England region with the responsibilityof ge tting to
the FAC's on-time, loading and unloading trailers and returning back to my home service center with local
customer's freight.
Other noted accomplishments
Several years of Safe Driving awards including placing 2nd place in Straight Truck at the MA Truck Driving
Championships.
