• SAP has hidden the job title and location fields in the search result when you have no permission to see the fields or when no
data was maintained for them. Before, “No Data” was displayed in such situations. (Universal)
• Starting from Q4 2019, SAP is gradually introducing an improved and more consistent people search behavior across SAP
SuccessFactors. On pages where the enhancement is adopted, you can control the search results with Role-Based Permissions so that the
information is provided on a need-to-know basis. For Employee Central users, multiple assignments or employment records are displayed
in the search results under the same person with icon indicators. In addition, the people search on these enhancement-adopted pages
now supports fuzzy matching for diacritical strings such as accented and dotted characters. (Universal)

• As of this release, there is a business rule available to validate the province against the postal code for the home address content
for Spain. The ensures the postal code entered matches the two first digits of the postal code for the relevant province. (Admin Opt-in)
• SAP improved the messages in the National ID portlet to be more clear and specific. In this release for the following

Q4 2019 Quick Review – Employee Central & Platform
• You now use the Person-ID-External field to import Job Information, Compensation Information, and Pay Component Recurring
information of employees through OData APIs. The Person-ID-External field is unique for employees having multiple user ids. However,
you use the Person-ID-External field to update only the single active employment record of an employee on a given date. (Universal)
• You can now configure workflows to be initiated whenever there are changes to employee data that require approval while
importing National Id, Address or Phone Information into your system. Centralized services must be enabled to use this feature.
(Admin Opt-in)
• Previously, while rehiring former employees through data imports, the system reassigned the user-id belonging to their previous
employment. Consequently, the history of their previous job and employment was overwritten. Now, you can choose between using the
same user-id or creating a new user-id while rehiring former employees using data imports. By rehiring using new user-id, you
can add new employment details separately while maintaining a historic account of their previous job and employment details. To rehire
with the same user-id, use the Job Information template, whereas, to rehire with a new user-id, use the Employment Details template.
This enhancement applies to API imports also. (Universal)

Previously, while importing work order information for contingent workers through OData APIs in full purge mode, there was a high
probability of data inconsistencies or exceptions if there were any existing records in the system. Now you can import work order
information for contingent workers using OData APIs in full purge mode while keeping the data consistent in the system.
However, after importing work orders, the Employment details will be updated in accordance with the data in the work order. Person related
entities Home address and Personal Information will always exist for work orders, whereas Job Information and Job Relationship information
should be imported again. (Universal)

Q4 2019 Quick Review – Employee Central & Platform
• Picklist Center is now made available to all customers, including customers who haven’t migrated their legacy picklists to MDF. You
can no longer access picklists from the Configure Objects Definitions page using the Picklists option. Instead, you must use the Picklist
Center to manage all your MDF picklists. Previously, based on picklist size, you could see either the older UI (Configure Object Definitions)
or newer UI (Picklist Center) was displayed. Now all picklists are displayed on the new picklist UI. You will now be directed to the new
picklist UI when you create a new picklist. If you are creating a picklist on Extension Center, you must manually add picklists to existing
extensions. (Universal)
• You can now create up to 250 MDF custom objects by default and a maximum of 400 custom objects on request. If you want to
create more than 250 custom MDF objects on your instance, you must raise a request with SAP customer support and provide a business
reason specifying why you need a higher limit. Previously, users could only create up to 25 MDF custom objects and customers were
informed that the limit was based on their license and they could increase their limit by purchasing the HANA Cloud Platform edition. If the
number of MDF objects exceeds the limit, the following error message is displayed – Sorry, you cannot create any more top-level custom
MDF objects as you have exceeded the maximum limit. (Universal)

• To prevent workflows from being stalled at a certain approval step, you can now specify whether a workflow step is to be
automatically approved when the approvers haven't responded within a certain number of days. To support automatic
approval, a new background job type, Workflow Auto Approval, has been added. You can schedule a recurring automatic approval job so
that the system regularly checks and approves workflow steps that are qualified for automatic approval. (Admin Opt-in)
• The My Notifications section of the Pending Requests page now only lists the notifications that you've received in the past 6
months. It is to make sure that you can easily find the most recent and relevant notifications that require your quick actions. You can
also filter your notifications received in the past month, past 3 months, or past 6 months. (Universal)
• A new rule scenario, “Generate Alerts for Employee Central Data”, has been added to the Configure Business Rules admin tool. The
base object list of this scenario has been preconfigured to only include the relevant HRIS elements. You can now use this scenario to
create business rules that generate alerts for Employee Central data, for example, alerts for job information changes. (Universal)

• Manage Pending Hires screen also displays candidates in Draft from EC Core and those in Draft for Contingent Workers (CWK).
You can now see the Enhanced Manage Pending Hires UI for these candidates also. The Enhanced Manage Pending Hires comes with
configurable columns and configurable column names. You can enable Enhanced Manage Pending Hires from Manage Employee Central
Settings and access Configure Columns for Manage Pending Hires from Admin Center to configure your columns. (Universal)
• Previously, employments were indicated only with a job title, which made it difficult to differentiate between multiple employments. For
people with multiple employments in the company, you can now configure up to 3 fields from Job Information and custom fields
to show more information about a person's employment when displayed in the Quickcard, Employment Switcher, People Profile, and
People Search. This helps to show the differences in job titles or areas to differentiate the employments from another. (Admin Opt-in)

• Previously, SAP only supported the date formats of "Month/Day/Year" (for example, 11/23/2018) and "Day-Month-Year" (for example, 23-
NOV-2018) in the Hire Date and Exit Date fields for Employee Import, Basic User Import, and Employee Export. Now, multiple date
formats are supported. (Universal)
• SAP has decoupled accounts from users universally, meaning that a person can have multiple users but only one login account. The
login account is active as long as the person has at least one active user. The "Manage Login Accounts" admin tool allows you to view
users' login account information, including login name and login method, and change the login account if necessary. You can access the
system using the login name or username. When you log into an Employee Central-enabled instance, the system automatically selects the
user of the home employment, primary employment, or earliest active employment as the main user in the cases of global assignments,
concurrent employment, or contingent workers, respectively. (Universal)
• The Data Subject Information Report of User Management now shows the labels of picklist options. Before, picklist option IDs
instead of labels were displayed in the report. (Universal)
• It is common that previously hired employees ignore their signed contracts and do not show up to start work. There is a new block to
represent these ‘No-Shows’ from the Take Action menu. There is a new event called ‘no-show’ that sets the employee status to a
new status called ‘reported no-show' and the user status to ‘inactive’. Customers have the option to provide various event reasons to set
the new status. Permissions for the Take Action menu and event reasons must be updated for this feature. There is a new rule context in
the BCUI for the no-show employees where rules are triggered for Job Information in that context. (Admin Opt-in)

Q4 2019 Quick Review – Employee Central & Platform
• SAP currently supports replicating a foreign address where the country of employment has an address infotype with a secondary
infotype and in the country of the foreign address the address infotype has no secondary infotype. In addition, SAP also supports
replicating a foreign address where the country of employment has an address infotype that has no secondary infotype and in the country
of the foreign address the address infotype has a secondary infotype. (Admin Opt-in)
• Assignment ID (assignment_id_external) is now considered in the replication of employee master data and employee organizational
assignments from Employee Central to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. If you use assignment ID in Employee Central, it is
transferred to the ERP system and used there as the personnel number for new hires replicated from Employee Central. This feature is
available for the Business Integration Builder (BIB)-based employee data integration. (Admin Opt-in)

• There is a new rule scenario to support onChange rules in Job Information and Compensation Information for event reason
derivation. No changes to permission or configuration settings are needed. (Universal)

‘Onboarding’ rule context is ‘Yes’ and supports onChange and onSave event types. (Universal)
