Good Morning Everyone, My name is Amanda and I am the Conference Coordinator. This is the first event in our series of 2018 events in North America and I’d like to start by Welcome Everyone to the East Coast Roadshow. whether this is the first time you’ve attended one of our events or if you’re a seasoned veteran, we’re really excited that you can join us!
As many of you know, there is a long history of the North American User Conference. The first conference was held in 2005 and happened every year up until last year at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
In 2007 the New York Botanical Gardens hosted the 3rd ever Roadshow! Some of you might be able to spot some familiar faces in this picture and weather permitting this is where we’ll take our group photo today at 4pm.
That being said, we’re really excited that NYBG has welcomed us back, so thank you for hosting this event and a special thank you to all the the faculty members who helped organize the day including set up, catering, presentations, and tours. We really couldn’t have done it without you so thank you!
Now in 2018 we’re shifting gears a little bit, but we didn’t want to leave you hanging for a whole year without touching base.
The idea was to have four smaller shows
Where we could reach more people.
So we decided to come to you.
But we weren’t sure where we should go.
Because there are lots of you and we’re still growing!
Since we saw your last we’ve added… new clients include:
Nipissing University
US Army Heritage and Education Centre
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Greene Geological Museum
The Colonial Williamsburg Wig Shop
And Bosch and Lomb Archive
We’re also in the process of negotiating contracts with Arizona State Museum and the National Geographic Society.
This means that your pool of resources is growing and we want to help you continue to connect with one another.
So we decided to come here, the New York Botanical Gardens, the Canadian Museum of History, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis and the Autry Museum of the American West.
Afterwards we’ll be sharing presentations from each event, so you can follow along with us as we go, even if you can’t be there in person.
Today there are more than 50 people from 15 different institutions here. If we do that 3 more times. We’ll reach more than 200 of you which is larger than any one single User Conference and it gives us the opportunity to meet some of you who might have not ever attended one of our events before.
The Roadshows offer us a unique opportunity, to discuss, learn, and share in a causal environment with a small group. If you have questions, we encourage you to ask them and we hope that you’ll come away with a better understanding of how the products you use work and what they might able to do for you in the future.
There are six members of the Axiell Staff here today, (get them to stand up + introduce them.) We hope to get to know as many of you as possible during these events and we hope you’ll come chat with us if you have the chance. We’re always interested in learning more about what your institution is up to and what you’re interested in seeing going forward. We’ll do our best to make sure you have a great day
We will be holding an evening reception with food and drinks starting at 5:30 at the Bronx Beer Hall. The Bronx beer hall is about an 8 minute drive. If you have any questions about getting there, please see an Axiell or NYBG staff member. We hope you’ll join us for an authentic Bronx experience!
And last but not least in 2019 the User Conference will be back!
We will be shifting the dates from the Fall to the Spring going forward, but we hope you’ll join us at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science May 1-3, 2019.
