Buyer
As a Buyer, I have independent categories for which I purchase on a weekly basis for 24 stores across the
United States. I am responsible for utilizing a min/max procedure in order to keep appropriate stock in
stores as well as maintaining an open-to-buy. It is imperative in this position to maintain working
relationships with vendors to keep freight costs at a minimum and to have product delivered in a timely
fashion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for new item card set-up, including information pertaining to cost and retail, package
dimensions, master-pack quantities, store locations, and min/max quantities
2. Responsible for stock balancing, transferring products and tracking rate of sales in each store
3. Prepares merchandising/stock reports for bi-weekly merchandising meetings with store
management
4. Work with stores and vendors to handle concealed damage, product damages, and shipment
shortage claims.
5. Maintains merchandising wall of current assortment of products and updates sales and quantities
sold
6. Develop product memos for new items added to assortment line-up
7. Prepares images, verbiage, and specification sheets for all items shown on company website
8. Work with vendors to obtain appropriate stock for items featured in monthly advertisements
9. Participate in vendor meetings on a bi-monthly and quarterly basis

Assistant Buyer
As an Assistant Buyer, I was hired to assist the Buying Manager in all facets pertaining to purchasing
including the transferring of product between locations and creating purchase orders when needed. I was
actively involved in department projects and presentations pertaining to sales and new product
assortments.

1. Checked receipt of goods on a daily basis for specific categories
2. Tracked purchase orders and updated ETA’s as necessary
