•At Spirent Communications, led integration of three key acquisitions from 2010 to 2012, including creating an
integrated product portfolio platform and leveraging strength of newly acquired IP to position company for growth.
•Applied LEAN Engineering principles to create the Efficient Virtual Continuous Integration (EVCI) vision and strategy;
received $4M funding approval and built/delivered a fully operational EVCI process in seven months.
•Developed innovative business processes that resulted in 10 patents that were awarded or currently pending with
the US Patent Office; LEAN processes delivered more than $1.5B in savings for Lucent within five years.
•Repositioned Lucent to differentiate them from competitors and improve profit margins in a troubled industry;
accelerated annual material cost reductions from $50M to more than $350M.

•Hired to create an engineering process for four software companies with 2,600 employees and $1B+ in revenue;
directed 650+ engineers in the US, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Moldova, China and Canada.
•Owned accountability for fundamentally transforming the Product Development Organization and creating a new
methodology for delivering software and hardware products to market through LEAN processes.
•Built and delivered a EVCI process that created a Global Command Center where real-time 24/7 Visual Management
metrics for EVCI health assessment; fully trained a 600+ person engineering team on the process.
•Deployed EVCI that was capable of continuously debugging and integrating 6,000 to 10,000 lines of code every day;
reduced defects by more than 50% as a result.

•Recruited, hired, and trained additional engineers, expanding the technical team 50% in five years as part of the
growth strategy to support increased revenue performance.

•Handled a $230M operating expense budget while heading quarterly win-loss reviews with sales teams and
architecting a new global supply chain/logistics strategy to expedite the design to manufacturing processes.
•Reduced the number of Wireless Base Station designs from eight onto a single common platform.
•Created and implemented a new methodology to capture $350M+ annual material cost savings.
DIRECTOR, RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
•Shifted an organization from an internal to an external focus, differentiated Lucent from competitors, and defined
product features and costs necessary to win competitively in the market.
•Developed a cash flow assessment tool (Phase In, Phase Out) allowing Product Development Teams to trade off
benefits of adopting a lower cost design vs. discontinuing higher cost product versions; the PIPO application
delivered $25M to $30M annually in balance sheet and P&L savings.
•Recognized by Lucent’s Chairman and CEO for substantially reducing the costs of wireless base stations, critical to
improving Lucent’s competitiveness in a fiercely price sensitive environment, and exceeding the $129M cost
reduction objective by $48M.
