2. Tekwan is one of the typical foods of
Palembang which is often referred to as the
brother of Pempek, because both are made
from the same ingredients. Although both are
made with the same ingredients, the method
of making and presentation is different.
Tekwan has a smaller size and is served with
a savory shrimp sauce topped with vermicelli,
ear mushrooms, fried onions and spring
onions.

3. Mie Celor is a typical Palembang dish made
from yellow noodles combined with a savory
coconut milk sauce. As a complement, celor
noodles are often added with shrimp, boiled
eggs and bean sprouts. In addition, this one
noodle has toppings such as celery, green
onions, shredded chicken and fried onions.

pindang. But the most favorite is the catfish
pindang. Pindang is a dish with coconut milk
sauce that tastes sour, sweet, spicy and

5. Celimpungan is a soupy food. Celimpungan
uses fish and starch which are almost the
same as pempek. Celimpungan is more or
less the same as Pempek, but the difference
is the shape and the sauce. Celimpungan is
round and flat with a diameter of about 10
cm. The gravy of this dish is made from
coconut milk and a rich blend of spices such
as turmeric, shallots, garlic, chilies and salt.

made from flour and fish because South
Sumatra is a producer of fish. Even though
they produce fish, they also have food made
from beef. Malbi is similar to beef stew, but
the spices used are more diverse so it tastes
more savory. Usually, malbi is better eaten if
you use rice, rice cake or ketupat. Malbi is a
special food for Eid al-Adha. It tastes good
with soft meat and thick gravy.
