Downriver West Kiwanis to host first Spring Semi-Formal this March
All proceeds will benefit Downriver communities
Brownstown, MI – Spring is often a time of new beginnings and the arrival of warmer
weather here in Michigan. To ring in the new season and give back to the community,
Downriver West Kiwanis is hosting their first annual Spring Semi-Formal and plans to give
all proceeds back to the community through various service projects throughout the year.
"This is our largest fundraiser of the year,” said president-elect, Sarah Kew. “One
hundred percent of the profit will go directly toward the communities we serve. The
evening will be filled with great food, fellowship and fun".
Those who attend can expect an enjoyable evening filled with refreshing cocktails,
dinner and dancing. A DJ will be provided. There will also be a silent auction and raffle for
attendees. Partygoers are encouraged to bring canned food to support the Downriver West
Kiwanis food drive. Those who participate will be entered into a separate special raffle.
The semi-formal will be held Saturday, March 21 at the Downriver Italian American
Hall. Festivities begin with doors opening at 6 p.m. – cocktail hour immediately following
and dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 for singles and $50 for couples.
Kiwanis began in Detroit, Michigan 100 years ago and is widely recognized across
80 nations for serving children though service projects that support the community. Their
efforts have raised more than $107 million. These projects include YMCA youth programs,
mentoring children, after school programs, clothing drives and many other projects that
support the community. For anyone that is interested in joining Kiwanis, the Downriver
West Kiwanis club meets every Monday at the Brownstown Center at 6:30 p.m.
