3. HOW WAS VENICE BUILT ON WATER?
To make the islands of the Venetian lagoon fit for
habitation, Veniceâs early settlers needed to drain areas
of the lagoon, dig canals and shore up the banks to
prepare them for building on.

The Venice lagoon is all mud. There is no rock to
construct on, not even soil. So, if you want to build
