SABB CANDIDATES
REVEALED BY SUNominees prepare manifesto in time for student elections
NOMINATIONS for the SU Elections
closed last week and now it’s time for
all candidates to start making their mark
around campus.
In the coming weeks, there will be
manifestos, campaigns and posters all
around the university, as the candidates
make their bid to get your vote.
The Students’ Union is a registered
charity that aims to support students
throughout their time at university.
They are a team of democratically
elected students employed to deal with
a range of issues including education,
welfare, employability and engagement.
Hannah Mullarky is currently Vice
President for Employability and
Engagement at the union.
Having been in this role for the last
two years she knows exactly how the
candidates are feeling.
As a member of the working group for
this year’s elections, she will be there
to support candidates and guide them
through the process.
“This week is candidate preparation
week so it’s all about writing manifestos
and having campaign training. I’ll be
there to give the candidates real life tips
on what it’s like to be in an election,”
Hannah said.
She adds: “During my first election I
was super, super nervous but I was also
really excited. You get to go around and
talk to people all week. It’s really fun to
meet everyone and it’s a lot of what the
job entails.”
The SU Elections are a chance for
students to think about the changes they
want to see happen around the university.
Every student at the university has the
right to vote for the people they think
are best for the job, so make your vote
count.
Voting opens Monday, March 2, 2015.

NSS SURVEY
GETS UNDERWAY
The National Student Survey allows third
year students to rate their course online,
and give their opinions on what could be
improved on their units. The SU shop is
offering students £5 to encourage them to
take part.

SMART WATCHES
BANNED IN EXAMS
The popularity of smart watches has led to
universities banning them from being worn
in exam rooms.
Administrators are concerned that smart
watches will allow students to cheat during
exams.

ALCOHOL BAN IN
UK UNI’S HALLS
Students at a UK university now have
the chance to live in alcohol free digs.
Accommodation forms will now have
a option box that students can tick to
request that other students in their halls
do not drink alcohol in shared flats and the
communal areas.
