How did you use Media
Technologies in the construction,
Research/Planning and evaluation
stages?
2. Wix
To document pretty much all of my work, I used WiX, A free
website builder which allows you to add images, videos and all
sorts of links in order to document work. On my WiX website, I
have used multiple different technologies in order to document my
work. These include Video recordings of myself describing and
analysing things, Images, some taken from screenshots for
research and others screenshots from my product. WiX has been
good for making a simple and easy to navigate site which really
improves the overall quality of the presentation of my work
3. Tumblr
I used Tumblr in order to blog about what I’m working on. It was
also a place to document ideas and definitely helped with my
creative thinking throughout the production period of my project.
I mostly uploaded text based paragraphs but also uploaded
pictures to help describe what I was discussing. I blogged pretty
much 2 out of 3 days and throughout the project hit over 100
blogs. Tumblr was very useful during the process of my Final
Piece and Definitely helped to convey my thoughts creatively
4. YouTube
I used YouTube in order to upload my Video analysis and
annotations which really add to the detail I go into on my WiX
website. YouTube has been good because it has been very easy to
use. I can simply record myself talking on my laptop webcam, edit
it a little and upload it to my website. Also, I have uploaded
Evaluation Q3 to YouTube and also my ancillary products.
YouTube is good for uploading this type of content because the
quality does not get lessened by uploading it.
5. Adobe
Dreamweaver CS5
I used Dreamweaver in order to create the actual website itself. It
was relatively easy to use, however, we did stumble across a
couple of problems along the way. I mainly had issues with
placing images in the correct places and we also came across a
problem where text and images would not show up in the centre
of the page. However, this problem was soon fixed. When
conducting my planning and research, I played about with
Dreamweaver to see if it was the ideal program to be using. This
helped me in reaching the conclusion that it was the best thing to
use
6. Adobe Premiere
and After Effects
CS5
When creating the HERD ident, our Video preview SKYE and also
my Evaluation Q3, I used Adobe Premiere and After Effects in
order to edit my footage. Premiere was good to use because I
have used it before, therefore, I already know my way around it.
The same goes for After Effects, creating a simple logo was not
much hassle at all. By using Premiere, I was able to colour correct
some of my footage in order to really improve the overall
appearance of my work.
7. Adobe Photoshop
CS5
I used Photoshop in order to create the background for the
website itself and to create and edit other pictures which are up
on my website. Photoshop was good to use because you can
really improve the quality of an image by adjusting the colour and
it really gave me a chance to be creative with the background of
my website.
8. Prezi and Slideshare
In order to display information for Planning, Research and my
Evaluation, I have used Prezi and Slideshare. I used both of these
products last year and both are very good for presenting
information and are very very easy to use. With Prezi, I have
created my own templates but also used templates which have
been created by the people who work at Prezi. With Slideshare, I
have created my powerpoints on my own PC and hen uploaded
them to the site. Both of these sites have made the translation
from mind to portfolio very easy
