Supporting information
My main working background is in the offshore industry as an industrial spray painter and
shot blaster. This experience was all prior to travelling to Australia. Upon my return and
due to the downturn in the oil industry I adapted to something different to earn a wage
in the region where i live
Hence I'm currently working for catering companies (Brigston & Co & Hullabloo Catering)
as and when required.
The following paragraphs are a brief outline of my working background whilst i was in
Australia.
I worked for a three-month period in the Northern Region in Mount Isa - traditionally a
mining area where I was able to utilise my skills in Abrasive Blasting & Spray Painting.
Following another period of travelling I worked for a company in Brisbane where I was
dry sandblasting a variety of mining equipment. I then settled in Melbourne working
with a company using Torbo Wet Blasting equipment on general steel work/bridges etc.
Prior to my career break I had been employed by Bilfinger Salamis as a General Fabric
Maintenance Technician on various North Sea Platforms
Whilst in the offshore industry I also carried out a ‘Permit to Work’ Course for all of the
platforms I worked on and, although not directly responsible, was aware and understood
the process and relevance behind it. I also attended platform Health & Safety meetings
when required. I have also carried out the maintenance of equipment used and am
confident in my ability to continue to use and maintain any new equipment that I may
require to use during the course of any work.
3. CV
I am also very willing to undertake different courses in order to further and widen my
knowledge.
