Commentary:
Reserving a park is a very long,
expensive process. Boling Park in
Canton is a probable area.

September 6, 2011 I researched Boling Park in Canton and
4pm-5:30pm found the application to reserve the
park.
Commentary:
The long application requires approval
from chief of fire and police, city hall,
and has many fees and deposits. It has
to be completed and sent into City Hall
at least thirty days prior to the event. It
also requires an extensive insurance
plan that I do not have yet.

companies used to host races and
received several contacts from him.
Commentary:
Professional hosting would be nice, but
it is very expensive and requires
several months of planning in advance.
I do not have that much time.

September 23, 2011 I met with my insurance agent, Ellia
4pm-6pm Simon, at Cotton States to discuss the
insurance plan I need for my event. We
discussed the specific details of my
event: number of people, use of water,
use of electricity etc.
Commentary:
I will need many more appointments
with Ms. Simon in order to complete
all the paperwork to receive an
insurance plan.

Commentary:
I need to create the most efficient,
easiest to follow path for my race. Mr.
Armstrong suggests I go watch the
next cross country meet at Boling Park
and observe their course.

October 10, 2011 Met with my insurance agent once

mother paid the $350 at that time.

The insurance plan is almost too
expensive for the project to be
successful.

October 3, 2011 Reservation of Boling Park was
5pm-7pm approved for November 12, 2011. $100
deposit paid. I emailed St. Jude
concerning my event and I also
emailed my insurance agent
concerning the possibility of their
sponsorship. I also made a list of
supplies I will most likely need for my
race.
Commentary:
My reservation for the park is only for
November 12. What if it rains that day?
My list of supplies will become very
expensive also.

October 5, 2011 I went to Boling Park and began to
4pm-6:30pm map out my course.
Commentary:
The original gravel course located in
the park is a one mile circle. I could
have my runners do three laps;
however, I would like the trail to be
more interesting than that.

Ms. Simon asked me to display a
Cotton States banner during my race
and promised to be present and give a
generous donation on behalf of Cotton
States.

I spent around $75 on just race supplies
including posters, survey flags, rope,
tape, banner, poles, wooden stakes, etc.

September 30, 2011 I designed both my flyers and
3:30pm-6pm registration forms to put in various
locations around Canton and Ball
Ground. I also designed the t shirt I
will give the top ten runners at the end
of the race.
Commentary:
T shirts will be another large expense. I
will put registration forms at Cotton
States and Lloyd Family Dentistry.

Commentary:
Sadly, Mr. Armstrong will be in North
Carolina on the day of my race, so he
will not be able to be there; however,
he has helped me tremendously with
all of the planning.

6am-10am race. I had to set up banners,

Commentary:
Freezing temperatures throughout the
entire set up!
