2. What is Climate Change ?
●
Long-term shift in
weather conditions
●
Leads to changes
in temperature,
rain, snow, wind
and other factors
●
Result of natural
and human causes
2
3. What are the Natural Causes?
Solar Output Volcanic Activity
3
Earth's Orbit around the Sun
4. What are the Human Causes?
Increase
Burning of Fossil Fuels Deforestation
Carbon Dioxide
Smoke Belching
4
5. Global Warming
Increase in the average temperature of the Earth's
atmosphere and oceans caused by increasing
concentrations of greenhouse gases (such as Carbon
Dioxide)
Do you see a
pattern on the graph?

The class will be divided in groups of 4 and will have to fill out a big cartolina with the
following information below. They will report this after 20 mins.

This is a video of Stephen Henry Schneider (February 11, 1945 – July 19, 2010). He
was Professor of Environmental Biology and Global Change at Stanford University, a
Co-Director at the Center for Environment Science and Policy of the Freeman Spogli
Institute for International Studies and a Senior Fellow in the Stanford Woods Institute
for the Environment. He was awarded a Nobel pea
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), to which Schneider made
very significant contributions, shared in the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

9. Project: What can you do to help?
1. Ask the class what they can do to help the environment to save the
earth from global warming.
2. Come up with a project that the class can do and document like:
●
Earth Hour (turn off the lights for an hour from 7PM to 8PM)
●
Recycle (gather plastic bottles and papers in school and segregate
them)
●
Tree Planting (find a place, reservoir, where the children can plant
seedlings)
3. Ask them to write about their experience on this.
