5. THE SCHLIEFFEN PLAN
The Schlieffen Plan was created by
Count Alfred von Schlieffen
Germany wanted to attack and take
over France but at the same time
avoid a war on two fronts.
6. TOTAL WAR
Total war is when all
resources and
manpower is dedicated
to the war.
A stalemate is where no
one can possibly win.
Trench warfare is war
that is fought in
trenches, not very
effective.
7. KEY WW1 BATTLES
First Battle of Marne happened at the Marne River with the British and French battling against Germany
The Second Battle of Marne also occurred at the Marne river but with the US and Italy with the UK and
France with the Alliance defeating the Germans.
The Gallipoli Campaign occurred at the Gallipoli Peninsula with the British Empire and France against the
Ottomans, Germans and Austria-Hungary
The Battle of Somme occurred at Pas-de-Calais, France with the Allies against the Germans fighting for more
land.
The Battle of Verdun happened at Verdun-sure-Meuse, France with the Allies against the German Empire with
the French winning the battle... The Germans wanted more land still
8. Bolshevik Revolution
The Bolshevik Revolution, Aka “ The Red
October”, was a political uprising in Russia
around 1917 in November.
Russia was eventually forced to pull out of the
war to deal with the Uprising of October .
9. THE US ENTRY IN WAR
America entered on two counts:
With the first being the Russians
needed a replacement for the Allies
and the second with the sinking of
American ships by Germans.
The President during WW1 was
Theodore Roosevelt.
The Us was with the Allies during
the war.
