- **One of the most important things we have to say is that there are a number of things you can do to make your job search much more effective . That is because the way we normally learn to do a job search is not the most effective approach. That is, we spend most of our time searching the Internet job banks, maybe also looking at the newspaper, going to a headhunter or employment agency or two, and occasionally networking with some friends. We will summarize a much more effective job search strategy a little later.

- **You may already know that networking is the most effective job search method. But here’s the problem: most people we see need to learn how to do it more effectively. Otherwise, it won’t get you very far. It isn’t just a matter of calling a few friends every now and then; you need to learn how to meet lots of new people on a regular basis. - In addition to hooking up with one of the networking organizations listed on page 14 in your booklet, try to find a small networking group of 6-7 people that meets regularly, every one or two weeks. Experience has shown this can significantly improve your job search experience. If you cannot find a small group, look for a job search buddy or place an ad or flyer in a place you frequent.
