Chapter 14 of Permaculture, A Designer's Manual often gets short shrift or lost among all the focus on the technical perfecting of permaculture. At the We Are All Farmers Permaculture Institute we take the call to action for creating nodes of permanence and working to foster community very seriously. In short, though deep technical knowledge is necessary for permaculture technical practice, culture is not culture without people. The hard work of creating regenerative community is essential to providing a foundation for carrying permaculture practice forward. Moreover, how can people afford to continue permaculture practice? What level of responsibility do you have in your community? This presentation outlines lessons learned in the context of the American non-profit community and examines business models, structures, marketing, etc. essential for a non-profit, if non-profit supported permaculture is a model you wish to pursue.

Most nonprofits work so diligently to secure the first gift with little plan for how to develop a deeper relationship with the donor. This personal connection results not only in increased commitment and donor loyalty, but also in as much as doubling the lifetime value of your donors. This session will explore the fundamentals for creating Donor Loyalty. We will share the latest findings from the Fundraising Effectiveness Project report commissioned by AFP and the Urban Institute. The dismal news in this report can and should be an eye opener for every non-profit engaged in fundraising. We will also explore the Donor Loyalty principles of Dr. Adrian Sargeant, the world-renowned authority on donor retention and donor loyalty! Dr. Sargeant’s principles are based upon years of research conducted in the sector and can be used by any organization -- whether you are a one-person shop or a large department. You will be surprised at how simple it can be!
