U.S. jobless claims hit an eight-month high
Silver touched a five-week low and was set for its deepest weekly decline in nearly 30
years. The dollar index this week fell to its lowest since July 2008, but the currency
rebounded on Thursday. Oil plunged nearly 6 percent on Thursday, headed for the
biggest four-day loss in a year, sparked by a sell-off across commodities markets on
mounting worry about the economy. U.S. jobless claims hit an eight-month high, and
productivity growth slowed.
