A - Detonation 0 to 15 degrees
Piston Slap 30 to 60 degrees
B - Top rings enter the exhaust ports
Rings broken 60 to 100 degrees
C - Exhaust Blown-down (will elongate if carbon builds up)
D - Fuel injection valve opens
E - Fuel injection valve closes
F - Blow-by begins here and appears at J
G - Cracked heads and main bearing problems
H - Baseline vibration throughout trace
I - Cracked heads, main bearings, excessive wrist pin wear
J - Blow-by continues here
K - Rings going back through the ports (seen only if severe problem)
L - (BDC area) wear in the vertical position. Bad wrist pin, rod
bearing. This is caused by a rough running engine.
This action happens 10 degrees BTDC and 10 degrees ATDC
