Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Goodfellas is a biography/crime/drama with the age rating of 18, meaning the film has been made
for a very mature audience. The target audience for my magazine are males and females who are
into crime dramas and thrillers and are over the age of 18. I’ve also found out that the audience
also liked films such as Pulp Fiction and The Usual Suspects that are also crime dramas/thrillers.
The social status of my audience is really anyone who watches films and has an interest in these
types of films and enjoys reading reviews as I would like anyone and everyone to be able to read it
as the same applies with people watching films, it’s available for everyone so it shouldn’t be locked
behind a social status wall.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your advergame and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Throughout this year I have gained some more photoshop skills and brought plenty with me from
last year that I think will help me in this unit of work. I believe that my skills in photoshop will allow
me to be more creative with making my magazine. Because I can more creative, I think that I will
be able to better advertise my magazine toward my target audience and also be able to get a
better grade on my work than I would have done last year when I was doing level 2 Media.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project?
The concept of my project is a magazine comprised of reviews of films from professional reviewers
and fans of the film that will be reviewed. In my magazine I will be making a double page spread
review on the film Goodfellas. I have chosen this film not because it is new and will attract a lot of
attention, I have chosen it because it is one of my favourite films, but it also has a huge cult
following which gives it a lot of popularity in the cinema/TV community. Now I am not a
professional film reviewer so I thought I would grab certain quotes from real reviews and dot them
around the double page in bold lettering near my review as to show comparison between
professional reviews and just a simple fan enjoying a film. In my review I will talk about how close
the film follows the book it is very closely based on, the hidden messages in the film, development
of characters and what really motivates them to be the people that they are.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
I plan on evaluating my work by going back through all the work I have done for this unit and
picking out all the strengths and weaknesses and talk about them in depth and talk about why I
decided against doing my other ideas, explaining my rationale and why I decided on doing the idea
I have chosen and talking about the process I followed and why I think it worked for my target
audience.
