- 15. DID YOU KNOW…? Nearly one-third of the world’s children are undernourished. Vitamin A deficiency is the leading cause of preventable child blindness. An estimated 250,000 to 500,000 vitamin A deficient children become blind every year. Half of them die within 12 months of losing their sight. Approximately 535 million children worldwide are at risk of becoming vitamin A deficient. A simple, cost-effective dose of vitamin A every six months, which costs less than 25 cents a year, can reduce under-five child mortality by about 24% in at-risk populations
- 16. VITAMINS SAVE LIVES Vitamin Angels reduces child mortality worldwide by connecting essential nutrients with infants and children under five. Essential nutrients enable young immune systems to fight infectious diseases, helping children attain good health and the opportunity to lead meaningful and productive lives.
