The document provides guidance for creating a story using images that explores a moral theme. It discusses using formats like fables, fairy tales, and allegories to tell a story through a removed perspective. Students are instructed to draw from their observations and collections to craft a tale that makes the audience think through enchantment and impacts them, using key elements like context, content, stance, and metaphor. Possible formats mentioned include a book with combined text and images, a sequential series of images, or a time-based moving image narrative.

1. Witness: Part 2âWhat did I see?ââWho saw me see it?âHoliday briefing 1st year Illustration 2011Amelia Johnstone MA RCA

3. Part one: in part one of this project you were asked totake a look outside your world to the world near but far from you beginning to gain perspective on the the things which you would not ordinarily. I read to you from âThe Master and Margaritaâ two Chapters which are about stepping outside your ordinary perspective, about the mirror we can put to the world. About the âperiscoped perspectiveâ; I describe the illustrator as having. We can use our images to talk; âVentriliquolisticallyâ, your voice through an alternative means. I do not mean this directly but more as a metaphor, like the Fable or the Allegory, how does one tell a story, a difficult, dull or tragic story at an angle through another means. Either ones sets it historically âA long time ago when wishing still helpedâŠâ or one begins with three little pigs and a wolf, or Little red Cap and her Grandmother. This part of the project is about finding somewhere appropriate for your story to live.

35. This is the rhetorical strategy of extending a metaphor through an entire narrative so that objects, persons, and actions in the text are equated with meanings that lie outside the text. Adjective allegorical
37. From your collections, observations, explorations and visitations; take a step back remove yourself and gather your thoughts to tell a story. From natural narrative to direct observation I want you to tell me a tale, with images, you must work to a format which suits you, and stick to it.Look at fables, fairy tales, allegorical stories use one/some, adapt it/them, and make it your own for the telling of your tale using your witnessing, hoarding and gathering to give impetus to your ideas and tale. It may be a very simple tale, a very simple moral the complexity will be on how it makes us think, what IMPACT it has, and how that impact is presented. Humour, pathos, something that is close to us, deplete the degrees of separation to tell your story and join us in.
38. The theme is âMoralityâ, what is your moral? It does not have to be âthe moral of this story isâ, but these stories need through enchantment to make us think, perhaps to tell us something difficult or something we donât know or donât/didnât notice. You witness on behalf of many as an illustrator you must now take us to a safe place in which to tell the story.Think about those key words CONTEXT CONTENT STANCE & IMPACT, think also and ponder on the other notions from the symposium of alchemy and redolence. Also metaphor, metaphor is implicit in allegory and fable. Metaphor is a powerful tool to tell stories enchant and teach.
39. Possible formats:* BOOK: Perhaps even like âThe wolf and the Seven little Kidsâ something simple which allows the text and the image to do different things. Word and Images.* Series of images which work in sequence in a format, remember it is narrative we need to navigate.* Moving image/time based again it is narrative how does your narrative imply perform and tell the tale.
