FY 2014 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
1) Finalization of Health and Development Program Integration
Toolkit up now on K4Health.
2) Hosted concurrent session on Post-Partum Depression/Maternal
Stress in collaboration with Safe Motherhood Reproductive Health
and Nutrition Working Groups at the Fall Core Group Meeting
3) Presented on “Keeping the Flame of HIV Prevention Burning” to
the HIV Technical Working Group during this Spring Global Health
Practitioners Conference.
FY14 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
1) 20th International AIDS Conference, IAS Melbourne, Australia 20-25 July
2014:
a) Compile all CORE Group members’ posters, presentations, other
sessions etc. at the conference and share with member organizations
b) Convene members during the event
c) Facilitate Cervical Cancer and HIV satellite session planned for the IAS
Melbourne July 2014
2) Health and Development Program Integration Toolkit up now on K4Health!
(see attached at end of this presentation) – Please help with dissemination!
3) Analysis of Social Drivers of the Epidemic (or any epidemic!) such as stigma,
poverty, gender inequities, etc., in collaboration (hopefully) with Social and
Behavior Change Working Group.
FY14 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
FY 2015 IDEAS & PRIORITIES
1) Linking achievement of “Zero New infections” (2015) to our
community work as a possible 2015 Core Group plenary, in
collaboration with UNICEF and UNAIDS
2) Promote Business development partnership among members
(identify key contacts at each interested organization, foster
intelligence gathering, etc.)
3) Possibly develop a PMTCT Option B+ Toolkit/Job Aid ( focusing on
“how-to-to-do-it”) for Community Workers (as needed)
4) Possibly activity on understanding a rapidly urbanizing world and its
implication for HIV, TB, all of us!
FY14 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
• Guidelines for monitoring the durability of long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets
under operational conditions”
• Help NGOs and Ministries of Health incorporate the se guidelines into
ongoing projects
• Organize an event to hear from experts on standardized rules and procedures
• Webinar on changes or updates in the new Technical Reference Materials on
malaria
• Link and collaborate with Roll Back Malaria working groups at global and regional
levels
• Dissemination of advanced learning materials on Malaria in Pregnancy, and
Community Case Management.
• Collaboration and learning dissemination on early results on the MalariaCare
project
FY15 IDEAS & PRIORITIES
• Creation of a database for ongoing malaria projects of CORE group partners
involved in the Malaria Working Group to increase exchanges and collaboration
(on the CORE Group website)
• This would include references to tools/resources developed with USG funding
• Quarterly webinars. Initial topics include:
• GIS mapping of insecticide resistance trends
• Non-invasive detection of malaria
• Integrating malaria in other health & non-health projects
• Quarterly lunches for partners involved in malaria:
• On rotational basis in the Baltimore/DC/New York/Philadelphia area
• Continued engagement and linking with Roll Back Malaria working groups and
networks
FY14 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
• ELECTRONIC DATA COLLECTION: We are presently completing a guide on the
different methodologies available for electronic data collection. If you are
presently using mobile devices for data collection, we welcome your input. You my

• MORTALITY RATE TOOLS: We are planning on ways to disseminate lessons
learned at the SMART (Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and
Transition) Methodology trainings that some of us have been able to attend, as a
method of determining mortality rates as well as more precise nutrition rates.
• HEALTH SYSTEMS STRENGTHENING IN M&E: We are creating a guidance
document for creating data systems to support districts in incorporating and
utilizing project data
FY15 IDEAS & PRIORITIES
• NGOs are in transition regarding the types of projects they are implementing and
the types of surveys and evaluations they are performing Therefore, we plan to
send out a comprehensive LNRA of M&E tools and methodologies
• We will ask about capacity and interests:
• What types of M&E needs they have
• What types of surveys they are presently doing
• What tools they are using most/what tools would be most useful
• What weaknesses do they have-what do they need
• Determine desire for Gender Indicators , ECD indicators, and indicators for other
new areas of intervention, such as maternal depression
• We will work on finding the most desired tools and performing trainings
regarding their use
TOP PRIORITY ACTIVITIES
• Organize (with TOPS) training of Master Trainers in Essential Nutrition
Actions to expand pool of trainers available to support use of ENA by
CORE members
• Develop (with TOPS) SIMPLE tool of ~5 nutrition design considerations
for related fields (Ag, WASH, ECD)
• Link with newly launched informal NY Nutrition Working Group, CMAM
forum and with CCH WG to develop CCM module for CMAM to
strengthen community component
• Develop advocacy tool to help NGOs in SUN countries promote ENA as a
practical ready-to-use package for translating the movement into
programs
OTHER GOOD IDEAS & PRIORITIES
• Collaborate with SMRH WB to expand ENA key messages and delivery
strategies for adolescent and women’s nutrition
• Distill best practices in nutrition behavior change; possibly including
training for CORE members in the negotiation/counseling techniques
from ENA
• Carry forward work of multi-sectoral anemia prevention & control task
force to build toolkit for reducing anemia through NGO programs
• Organize monthly calls at which a different NWG member can share a
project of interest and get help on challenges
• Continue attention to the key nutrition-sensitive areas of Ag, WASH, ECD
(through concurrent sessions; hosting ECD interest group
• Share materials on nutritional support for children with disabilities

FY 2014 ACCOMPLISHMENTS 1) Finalization of Health and Development Program Integration Toolkit up now on K4Health. 2) Hosted concurrent session on Post-Partum Depression/Maternal Stress in collaboration with Safe Motherhood Reproductive Health and Nutrition Working Groups at the Fall Core Group Meeting 3) Presented on “Keeping the Flame of HIV Prevention Burning” to the HIV Technical Working Group during this Spring Global Health Practitioners Conference.

FY14 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES 1) 20th International AIDS Conference, IAS Melbourne, Australia 20-25 July 2014: a) Compile all CORE Group members’ posters, presentations, other sessions etc. at the conference and share with member organizations b) Convene members during the event c) Facilitate Cervical Cancer and HIV satellite session planned for the IAS Melbourne July 2014 2) Health and Development Program Integration Toolkit up now on K4Health! (see attached at end of this presentation) – Please help with dissemination! 3) Analysis of Social Drivers of the Epidemic (or any epidemic!) such as stigma, poverty, gender inequities, etc., in collaboration (hopefully) with Social and Behavior Change Working Group.

FY 2015 IDEAS & PRIORITIES 1) Linking achievement of “Zero New infections” (2015) to our community work as a possible 2015 Core Group plenary, in collaboration with UNICEF and UNAIDS 2) Promote Business development partnership among members (identify key contacts at each interested organization, foster intelligence gathering, etc.) 3) Possibly develop a PMTCT Option B+ Toolkit/Job Aid ( focusing on “how-to-to-do-it”) for Community Workers (as needed) 4) Possibly activity on understanding a rapidly urbanizing world and its implication for HIV, TB, all of us!

FY14 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES • Guidelines for monitoring the durability of long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets under operational conditions” • Help NGOs and Ministries of Health incorporate the se guidelines into ongoing projects • Organize an event to hear from experts on standardized rules and procedures • Webinar on changes or updates in the new Technical Reference Materials on malaria • Link and collaborate with Roll Back Malaria working groups at global and regional levels • Dissemination of advanced learning materials on Malaria in Pregnancy, and Community Case Management. • Collaboration and learning dissemination on early results on the MalariaCare project

FY15 IDEAS & PRIORITIES • Creation of a database for ongoing malaria projects of CORE group partners involved in the Malaria Working Group to increase exchanges and collaboration (on the CORE Group website) • This would include references to tools/resources developed with USG funding • Quarterly webinars. Initial topics include: • GIS mapping of insecticide resistance trends • Non-invasive detection of malaria • Integrating malaria in other health & non-health projects • Quarterly lunches for partners involved in malaria: • On rotational basis in the Baltimore/DC/New York/Philadelphia area • Continued engagement and linking with Roll Back Malaria working groups and networks

  • 13. FY14 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES • ELECTRONIC DATA COLLECTION: We are presently completing a guide on the different methodologies available for electronic data collection. If you are presently using mobile devices for data collection, we welcome your input. FY15 IDEAS & PRIORITIES • NGOs are in transition regarding the types of projects they are implementing and the types of surveys and evaluations they are performing Therefore, we plan to send out a comprehensive LNRA of M&E tools and methodologies • We will ask about capacity and interests: • What types of M&E needs they have • What types of surveys they are presently doing • What tools they are using most/what tools would be most useful • What weaknesses do they have-what do they need • Determine desire for Gender Indicators , ECD indicators, and indicators for other new areas of intervention, such as maternal depression • We will work on finding the most desired tools and performing trainings regarding their use

TOP PRIORITY ACTIVITIES • Organize (with TOPS) training of Master Trainers in Essential Nutrition Actions to expand pool of trainers available to support use of ENA by CORE members • Develop (with TOPS) SIMPLE tool of ~5 nutrition design considerations for related fields (Ag, WASH, ECD) • Link with newly launched informal NY Nutrition Working Group, CMAM forum and with CCH WG to develop CCM module for CMAM to strengthen community component • Develop advocacy tool to help NGOs in SUN countries promote ENA as a practical ready-to-use package for translating the movement into programs

OTHER GOOD IDEAS & PRIORITIES • Collaborate with SMRH WB to expand ENA key messages and delivery strategies for adolescent and women’s nutrition • Distill best practices in nutrition behavior change; possibly including training for CORE members in the negotiation/counseling techniques from ENA • Carry forward work of multi-sectoral anemia prevention & control task force to build toolkit for reducing anemia through NGO programs • Organize monthly calls at which a different NWG member can share a project of interest and get help on challenges • Continue attention to the key nutrition-sensitive areas of Ag, WASH, ECD (through concurrent sessions; hosting ECD interest group • Share materials on nutritional support for children with disabilities
