Like many here, Miranda Hairston is a Charlotte newcomer. However,
after moving from Virginia, she lost her job in cutbacks. Moving forward,
Miranda says, meant going back to school. “I have always been a lifetime
learner.”
The most challenging aspects of returning to college, she says, were
dealing with the impact of losing her job, the financial constraints and
new surroundings. “I had multiple competing priorities coupled with
thoughts of doubt and fear.”
Despite these challenges, Miranda excelled. As a jobseeker who was
motivated to learn, she took advantage of a partnership between
CharlotteWorks and CPCC.This opportunity let her expand her interest in
human resources, which led to earning CPCC’s HR Certificate. Now, after
more than two years out of work, Miranda has a successful position with
K&P Consulting.
Her advice to others is simple. “Don’t wait!” She credits her courses for
helping her secure her current job – they gave her the relevant knowledge
and insight needed to navigate today’s challenging job market. “Ask
yourself,” she says, “what else can I do or try?”

written e-mail campaigns can alienate your customer base and cause
unsubscribes. Businesses are required to obtain permission for e-mail
marketing and stay compliant with the CAN-SPAM laws; we’ll show
you how. When done correctly, your e-mails will be welcomed by your
audience and create a bond between you and your customers.
