This is an Interactive Multimedia Project designed to help teachers fill out the Statement of Purpose for the ThinkShow!, an annual exhibition of student quality work in Memphis City Schools.
3. Filling out the
Statement of Purpose
Before we get started. It is a good idea to have
some of your upcoming lesson plans handy. Look
over the 3rd nine weeks curriculum maps and
consider possible topics for your students.
4. Filling out the
Statement of Purpose
Now, its time to choose a TN Department of
Education Standard that your project will be
grounded in. If you need help locating
standards please visit the Tennessee
Department of Education Website by clicking
the link below:

5. Filling out the
Statement of Purpose
As a High School Teacher you must choose one
or two College and Career-Ready Writing
Anchor Standards or College and Career-
Ready Speaking and Listening Anchor
Standards to address through the projects this
year. The simplest way to choose would be
from the ThinkShow! MCS Letter to Teachers
located on the “Resources Page”. Click the
graphic to the right to navigate there, now or
use the button on the Schools Home Page.
6. Filling out the
Statement of Purpose
The Common Core Standards featured on the next
two slides are taken from The ThinkShow! MCS
Letter to Teachers. This can be found on the
Resources Page of the School’s Website. They are
broad and can easily fit your project with a well
tailored research question:

2. Integrate and evaluate information
presented in diverse media and formats,
including visually, quantitatively, and
orally.
5. Make strategic use of digital media and
visual displays of data to express
information and enhance understanding of
presentations.
6. Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and
communicative tasks, demonstrating
command of formal English when indicated
or appropriate.
9. Filling out the
Statement of Purpose
After you make your decision on the Common
Core State Standard the projects will
address. Indicate it on the ThinkShow!
Project Statement of Purpose in the
appropriate space provided. This form can
be found on the Resources Page.
10. Filling out the
Statement of Purpose
Now, its time to come up with a
Research Question or Questions
the projects will explore and/or
answer. Then indicate it on the
Project Statement of Purpose.
11. Filling out the
Statement of Purpose
The next step is to share more
details of the project by
explaining how the students
have/will demonstrated their
understanding of the Common
Core State Standard and how it
relates to your research question
and include it on the Project
Statement of Purpose.
