Information board / bulletin board Activity : Content creation, Communication Tool(s) used: IVLE Announcement Description:  After each class, post information - course materials, links to other reading materials, pre-readings…  Help students be better prepared for the next lesson  Useful for exam preparation
  • 7. Extend real-time class discussions Activity : Communication, Collaboration Tool(s) used: IVLE Discussion Forum, IVLE Chat room Description:  Divide students into groups to discuss on different issues related to a topic in class  Students post a summary of the group discussion on the discussion forum  Class discusses each group’s inputs/comments  Allows for review/re-visit/continue discussion

Enhance students’ understanding of topics Activity : Communication, Collaboration Tool(s) used: Readings, Web links, IVLE Discussion Forum Description:  Post reading articles online weekly  Create question(s) in discussion forum(s) based on reading articles – for specific topic  Students discuss using the forum before face-to-face class ( 1 week duration)  Discussion moves from discussion forum to face-to-face class

Provide feedback on peer’s presentation Activity : Communication, Collaboration Tool(s) used: Multimedia bank, IVLE Discussion Forum Description:  View the video recorded session  Students do a peer review with another student assigned in a forum and provide feedback on areas identified  Tutor will review the feedback and give final comments in the forum

Provide support for assignments Activity : Communication, Collaboration Tool(s) used: Workbin, IVLE Discussion Forum Description:  Week 1: Introduction and overview  Week 3: Submit draft proposal through discussion forum & peer review  Week 7: Submit sections 1, 2 & 3 through Workbin & peer review  Week 13: Submit final assignment (1,000 – 2,000 word essay)

Create course glossary with pictures Activity : Content creation Tool(s) used: Glossary bank, IVLE Workbin Description:  Create a glossary which features works of students  A student defines a term along with a picture to illustrate along with references to the pictures origins  Allow your students to submit the entries to the workbin and then you/tutor can update the glossary
  • 14. Enhanced MCQs Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Activity : Analysis Tool(s) used: IVLE Assessment Description:  Five options with one correct option  Question: Requires students to consider extensive new information (one para to half a page)  Sufficient time for reading the question and thinking about options  Suitable for open book examinations
  • 15. Engage students / gather data Activity : Communication, feedback Tool(s) used: IVLE Poll Description:  Intersperse “Opinion polls” to engage students  Use this terrific activity to gather short snippets of data  Active and reflective for the students
  • 16. Mid-term feedback Tool(s) used: IVLE Survey Description:  Create a mid-term feedback using IVLE survey  Helps you better understand students’ needs and concerns - Align teaching to students’ learning  Re-focus content emphasis  Refine grading procedures  Track teaching development
  • 17.
