Overview of CHAK
Identity - CHAK is a national Faith Based
Organization of the Protestant Churches’ health
facilities and programs from all over Kenya that has
been in existence for 70 years since 1946
Our members: We serve our members (Hospitals,
Health Centres, Dispensaries, CBHC, Churches,
MTCs) and communities
Partnerships – we work in partnership with MOH,
County Health Departments, Donors, Consortium
partners, FBOs, MEDS, UN Agencies, Other NGOs,
other CHAs,Private Sector, Communities etc

Burden of NCDs in Kenya
• It is Estimated that the mortality due to CVD
in Kenya is 8% (WHO NCD fact sheet 2014).
• The prevalence of Diabetes is about 4.7% (2.7%
in the rural and 10.7% in urban areas)
• The annual incidence of cancer is close to
37,000 new cases with an annual mortality of
over 28,000
• Kenya Health Policy and Strategic Plan have
prioritized UHC for NCDs & CDs and RMNCAH
