CA Release Automation Upgrade Path
§ Any CA Release Automation system running a version older than 6.0
must upgrade to version 6.1 before upgrading to latest version
§ CA Release Automation Agents running version 5.5.1 and higher are
compatible with CA Release Automation version 6.X (Agent upgrade
is not mandatory but recommended)
§ If you using import/export between more than one RA system, sync
utility must run on Release Automation version 6.1

CA Release Automation Upgrade Path
§ Improve Release Automation stability
– Automatically tracks what migrations (schema changes)
have already been applied
– Make it clear at all times what state a database is in
§ Speed Release Automation startup
– During application startup Flyway will check if new
migration are available and weather they already applied to
the database, if there is any differences it will close the gap.

Upgrade Strategy
§ Backup
– Full Database backup
– NAC/NES (recommended to take full backup/snapshot)
§ Stop traffic to NAC from internal and external resources
– CI systems, command line interface, user interface
– Disable schedule jobs
– Make sure there are no running jobs
§ Upgrade Release Automation Server (NAC)
– In high availability configuration the pair server must be
stopped before upgrade.

agents that will allow you to validate if upgrade
