Agile Development for Output Management Solutions
 When a “critical mass” of agile features have been released
and validated by customers, the agile phase of the
development process will end and the product will transition
into a “Mature Release”
— The development team may or may not choose to have a beta
— A “mature release” behaves like today’s supported releases
— Sustaining engineering will deliver corrective fixes, migration,
and toleration support when necessary
 The development team will shift to the next Incremental
Release

What is an Incremental Release @CA?
 A deliverable generated by the agile development process
 Available to any customer who agrees to participate in the agile process
and agree to product deployment rules
 Fully supported by normal CA support processes
— Customer can deploy to any environment, including production
 New functions (Agile Features) are released every few sprints, when the
development and customer teams decide that there is sufficient new
capability to package and release for customer consumption
— Uses standard SMP/E packaging (for z/OS based content)

Why Product Sprint Reviews @ CA?
 Products can deliver, verify and correct new features more quickly and in
smaller increments
 Enhancement requests can be made available more quickly
 CA can reduce the volume of corrective fixes delivered through the service
stream
— Corrective fixes can be delivered with the next Agile Feature (with
customer consent) rather than shipping via individual corrective PTFs
— Having customers focus on features as released and over a longer
period of time will naturally lead to earlier discovery of issues,
(implementation problems, coding errors, usability concerns, etc.,
nearer the time of original coding

Incremental Release Enhancements

Enhancement- Report Writer for CA View® - VIEWGRW
Provide a report writer within CA View®, similar to the one in CA Deliver™, for easy extraction of
information from the CA View® database
 Ability to extract and report on the CA View® database Metadata, similar to how they can
from the CA Deliver™ database, without having to write an assembler program.
Delivered - July 28, 2014
Why is this important for you to Know?
There are times where programmers or a line of business unit need to know the cost and what
reports are stored, how much data, tapes, or lines of data being stored on CA View® quickly using
a simple batch job.
This function use to reside in a program called SARSAM and now it is available in user friendly
format.

Enhancement- CA Deliver™ Performance/Capacity
Improvements
Performance/Capacity Improvements:
 Increase the maximum size of the checkpoint file
 Customers will be able to set a threshold that when exceeded will put out messages to
take action
 Customers will be alerted to the fact that the checkpoint file has reached a certain
threshold through a health check and through OPS/MVS automation
 Increase the number of dynamic reports that can be created from a single source
 Reduce the amount of memory used to create dynamic reports
 Reduce the amount of CPU needed to create dynamic reports
Delivered - February 5, 2015
CA Deliver™ is the work horse for capturing, printing and archiving reports to CA View®. In todays world of the
“Application Economy” capturing and processing a lot of report data, the checkpoint was improved to handle
very large workloads. By integrating into CA OPSMVS, a more proactive alerting can be managed. The
introduction of Dynamic REPORTIDS depending on the report can be resource intense, so the performance of CA
Deliver™ is critical.

Enhancement – CA View® Indexing Composite Keys
Allow the creation of composite value indexes based on multiple values located in more than one
place on a page
 Creation of composite value based indexes that will reduce the amount of report pages
required to find specific data based on values from multiple places within a page
Delivered - March 10, 2015
There are times where a client may need two logical view indexes to identify a report page. For
example, Index by Region name and index by a Branch office. Example Region=001, Branch 002.
The user would have to input two different values to get the pages of a report. Using the
composite indexing, this will allow CA View® to merge and display those two indexes together
showing one index value instead of two. So the now the user could input one index value to
quickly see the pages of the report Example- Region= 001002

Enhancement – CA View® Operations Job Mode
Improve User Experience when searching and viewing jobs and logs
 Add new Job mode so that a report list shows columns such as start date and time, end
date and time, return code , comments
 Improve Print and Email capability so that these components of Spool appear seamless to
View users
 Provide additional search criteria such as JobID, Error code, Comment, time periods to
limit the initial report list.

This enhancement is major event for CA View®. Application Developers, Sysprogs, Operations
teams have a need to review spent JCL for various reasons.
For example: Need to quickly identify a DD where a job ABENDED. Maybe, Identify when a job
started and ended in a user friendly way. The JOB MODE for CA View® now has these features to
greatly enhance this critical operations infrastructure management area.

CA View® Featuring – Job Mode
 Primary selection criteria
– You acquire access to jobs from the CA View® Primary Menu by entering
specifications on the screen fields or by entering the SELECT command on the
command input line.
– You can filter the selection list by:
 Specifying JOB name
 Specifying JOB identifier
 Specifying From Last range
 Specifying From/To Date/Time
 Specifying Search Date/Time
 Specifying XCODE
 Specifying System ID, User ID and User Comments

CA View® Job Mode – NEW Online Primary Selection Menu

CA View® – NEW Online Job Mode Selection List Fields
The Job Selection List has multiple panels to scroll left and right.
The panels may contain the following information:
Jobname - Name of the job
Jobid - JES id of the job
Start Date - Date of job execution
Start Time - Time of job execution
End Date - End date of the job
End Time - End time of the job
Sub Date - Submission date of Job
Sub Time - Submission time of Job
XCODE - Exceptional condition
System - System of execution
Class - Job Class
User Id - User who submitted the job
Lines - Sysout/Report lines archived
Pages - logical pages archived.
Assigned - User assigned to the job.
User-Comments - User comment field

CA View® Job MODE - New Look for Online Job Selection List
Mode

CA View® Job Mode - Online Job Selection List
 The full JOB or individual DD’s associated with a Job may be browsed , printed, or emailed.
 You can also place a question mark “?” next to the JOB name to get a list of individual DD’s for
the Job.
New Commands

 From the Data Set List, an individual DD may be selected for browse, print, or email.
CA View® Jobs Mode - Online Job Step and DDname List
Jobs that have SYSOUT archived in CA View®. NOTE: only reports associated with the job
that have been archived via VIEWSTC, VIEWFSS text collector, VIEWXTD, and VIEWDBB
are accessible in JOB mode.

CA View® – Job Mode New Online Commands
 The following select command are supported on the selection
list panels
— S – Browse the job or SYSOUT
— J - Print the job or SYSOUT from a background job. The JCL will be
submitted if you enter "SUBMIT" or when you exit CA View®.
— JA - Print the job or SYSOUT from a background job via the alternate print
panel. The JCL will be submitted if you enter "SUBMIT" or when you exit CA
View®.
— P - Print the job or SYSOUT on-line.
— PA - Print the job or SYSOUT on-line via the alternate print panel.
— A – Assign your USERID for follow up on the job (Job Selection List only)
— U – Remove follow up USERID (Job Selection List only)

CA View® - Jobs Mode – New INIT PARMS For Printing
 CA Spool printing has been expanded to support the standard
SYSOUT printing commands “P” and “J”. The following
initialization parameters can be used to set up this feature:
— CMASPOOL - Specifies the 4-character name of the CA Spool subsystem
that is defined in the CA Spool SUBID configuration parameter in member
ESFPARM. Syntax: CMASPOOL=SUBSYS
— PRINTTO - Specifies where to route JES print requests for printer device
destinations that are not predefined. If the destination is not known to CA
Spool, prints to JES destination. Syntax: PRINTTO=[JES|ESF|ESFJES]

CA View® - Job Mode – New INIT PARMS For EMAIL
 New VIEW INIT statements
– MAILTO=[ JES | ESF ]
 JES - Email to JES destination MAILDEST using OUTPUT statement mail
parameters.
 ESF - Email to CMASPOOL destination MAILDEST using OUTPUT mail
parameters.
– MAILDEST=
 Destination - Email destination.
– MAILFROM=[ YES | NO ]
 YES - Allow View user to specify MAILFROM.
 NO - Disallow MAILFROM parameter.

CA View® Job Mode – NEW VIEWBCH Keywords
 A new VIEWBCH function has been added to print jobs
/PRINTJOB:
– 4 new keywords in addition to the attribute override keywords were
added
 JOBNAME – Specifies the name of the JOB to print. This keyword is
required.
— If none of the optional keywords are provided the most recent job will be
returned.
 JOBID – This is job id of the job you want print. It is in the form ABC#####
 JOBDATE- This is the date for a given job you want to print. Mm/dd/yyyy.
 JOBTIME- This is the time for a given job you want to print. Hh:mm:ss.

CA View® Job Mode – NEW VIEWGRW Keyword Values
 The user will be able to run VIEWGRW to extract the jobs metadata. JOB field names
are:
Two samples VIEWGRW08 (List of Jobs) and VIEWGRW09 (List of Jobs and Datasets) were added to CVDEJCL library.

CA View® - Job Mode New Security Options
 Security for Job mode
– New resource type and resource name
 Resource type of JOB
 Resource name of “secid.JOB.jobname.owner
– Owner is userid that submitted job
– Owner allows client to restrict access to users that submitted the job like TSO
– Report authentication still enforced
 First requires job access
 Second required report access either read for browse or write for print and
email.
 Third request access to all pages of report
