Thomas Vestdam discusses best practices for exchanging research information. While there are promises of grand solutions, there is no agreed upon best practice. CASRAI provides an initial level of agreement but not a full solution. Different systems and formats are used for publications, projects, events, awards and more. Terminology, data models, formats and software all need alignment. The technology exists but individual components need further refinement and documentation to allow successful assembly and reuse across contexts.

essentially just utilise the basic building blocks
