‘What a great way to learn about
Notice Board applying for money’
CASE Kent’s Dragon’s Den style funding event was a hit. Held at the
Shepway Community Exchange at Romney Resource Centre - four
different groups presented their pitch to the ‘dragons’ - Manjit Sohal
from Kent Community Foundation, Kate Sawdy from the Big Lottery
and Bill Ronan from KCC local members grants.
CASE Kent’s Network Officer Michael James said ‘The ‘Dragons were
just great and really got into the spirit of things as well as providing in-
valuable advice. We had great feedback asking for ithis style event to
be put on again. Many thanks to the brave organisations who pre-
sented their pitches—they did an excellent job and really helped others
to think about how they put their own bids together. We hope to roll
this event out to all of our areas.’

‘
Valued Partners: Making Best Value Meaningful’ is the theme for this year’s Compact Week,
which is being held between Monday 5th November and Friday 9th November 2012. This na-
tional awareness week is an annual celebration, which takes place across England to promote
and recognise the Compact - the longstanding agreement that sets out shared commitments
and guidelines for partnership working between government and the voluntary sector.
The week engages voluntary organisations both locally and nationally, government depart-
ments, local authorities and other public sector partners working with the Compact locally or
nationally.
Taking centre stage will be the announcement of the winners of this year’s Compact Awards.
CASE Kent has applied for a Compact Voice award for our joint work with the public sector
around the Health and Wellbeing agenda. Great efforts have been made by health profession-
als supporting Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to engage with the voluntary and com-
munity sector in 2011-12. Last year CASE was awarded a commendation for our work with the
Fire Service. To find out more about Compact Week 2012, please visit:
