9. Expanding the roles behind the
scenes
Hiring new young staff in touch with the desires of the
users
Hiring old-timers that would provide expertise from
past experience
11. Strategies behind success:
Learning from others
mistakes
Limiting the role of money
Loyalty to the company and
it’s vision
12. As friendster gained popularity it didn’t take into account the effect the increase
of users would have on it’s servers. It quickly became so overloaded with data that
the site was slow and never working properly. Users lost interest and the site
failed.
Zuckerberg and his team learned from friendster’s mistake. They only brought
facebook to new schools when they had new servers that could handle it. This
kept the site speedy and efficient, just like the users wanted.
15. Saying “NO” to venture
capitalists
The facebook team was very reluctant to allow VC’s to
invest in their company. They didn’t want to get
involved with any party that would try to use their
investment to change the ways of the site for their own
advantage. Zuckerberg only wanted supporters who
shared his same vision for facebook.
16. Refusing to sell
Sticking to the original vision
Having confidence in the future
